Have you tried researching the diplomacy techs in the cultural tree? Building embassies? Do enough of that and everyone will love you.
I have researched some diplomatic techs. I don't have any minuses for diplomatic skills. The other things I mentioned are enough to destroy any relations.
Or they could just, you know, let starbases orbit planets like you'd expect them to be able to.
What if you have 2 starbases for the same planet?
Yup, just got dow'd by a yet another race on the other end of the map. I am now at war with 5 races. Looks like this game won't be won peacefully, if at all. Seriously guys, this is just NONSENSE. There is nothing realistic about this kind of diplomacy. "Oh sure this nation is located on the other end of the map and has done us no ill, but they are weak so let's kill them for no reason!".
Ok, this isn't even funny. Now I got dowd' by a faction who's location I am not even aware of. And I haven't seen them send any ships. Oddly I also never got any message from them I just saw that I am at war with them on the diplo screen.
I am currently in a rough place. I am the weakest faction in the game on a insane galaxy and I don't have that many more planets to colonize and am kinda boxed in between other much more powerful nations many of whom are at war with me. They also seem to have far more advanced tech than I do. What do I do?
They really should just make it so that any starbase within a planet's zone of control must be destroyed before any invasion can begin.
Quoting hardcore_gamer, reply 6 Isn't it possible to use starbases to defend planets? Yes with the right techs you can make a planet almost immune to invasion.
So things have been changed? Because I am pretty certa
Basically, you win by having more planets and bigger planets. Which would be fine, except that you cannot defend all of those planets without a strong fleet. You can try to play peaceful, but the larger your borders, the more impossible it becomes to keep people from just gobbling up an undefended planet before you can even see their ships coming. So, if you have to have large numbers of ships, you might as well be play
Well I am playing an evil faction and I am getting threats and mocking messages from almost every faction I have met so far. I was able to make friends with the iconians by bribing them and by forming trade routes and because we have a common foe but they are my only ally. Even minor races are trying to extort me for money.
I mean I suppose it makes sense from a game mechanic view, but it makes no sense in terms of narrative. The point of having different civilizations and leaders is to give each civ it's own personality and behavior. With that in mind it doesn't make sense to have every civ behave like a serial killer regardless of personality. Will this be changed in the future?
This happened to me again with the Iridum. Relations were very low and they dow'd me even though their empire is too far away to be any serious threat. Technically they can reach a deep space starbase that now exists close to them after they expanded their empire into that area of space, but it seems silly to dow me when that is literally the only asset I own they can actually attack.
It should't. I'd love to check out your save game. There are so many lines of code that literally focus on making sure that the AI can get to you before it does this. Starting in 1.4, the AI does assemble battle fleets in advance of a war. It's a new new system that will continue to be expanded on.
I don't know how useful my save is to you at this point since I
This is something that happens to me sometimes in the early game. I am playing a game where my neighbor dow'd me because relations are utterly terrible, but they don't seem to be sending any troops or fleets so far. In fact, in the diplomatic screen I get a ++ to relations because they I am outside of their range or something. If that is the case then why go to war? In fact I am not even sure if they are able to even build transports though I can't confirm them since the graphs sh
3) Maps. It is very hard to get a decent map. Huge, unbridgeable gaps between the stars are common. Distribution of habitable planets is uneven, leaving some races with huge, early advantages and others to wallow around in the dark until they die. It's not fun to play the latter. 4) Tech trading. The constant need for it in any large game is frankly wearing. I wish this system would be replaced,

Not sure about the Artifact question. The XML suggests it only goes to AI majors and not minors or the human player. Could easily be wrong about that though. The Peacekeepers just spawn in a a ship for each hull size and attack only those at war. Unlike the Dread Lords they don't have a planet or can take any planets. They also lack shipyards and can't expand their numbers, which also makes them dif
I have already read the basic description for them, but I feel they don't explain enough. Like the one about the artifact. It says a "previously weak race" starts getting stronger. Are they talking about a weak major race? An AI controlled minor race? Can the player become this super race? And the time traveling robots...what do they do? We are told they have come to stop future conflict, but what does this mean? Do they just attack everybody? And if so what makes them different f
Quoting erischild, reply 1 The best way to find out is to try. There have been definite improvements in AI and added features since launch. version 1.5 represents 5 full passes of development and balance. A lot has changed. Whether it is enough for you is
I picked the game up near launch and played it a bit but while I had lots of fun at first I quickly stopped playing it once I realized the problems it suffered from such as mediocre and not very aggressive AI which made the game too easy, and also lack of features. What is the game like now compared to the launch? I know it has had some DLC, does it add a lot to the game? Is the AI better? How much better is the game now compared to the way it was on launch?
Know this is kinda of a random place to make this sort of thread but on the body building forum I originally wanted to post this they have a rule that says noobs can't post links or images for some reason :/ I found this to be a very interesting article, but it also makes me wonder which body type I have. https://www.muscleandstrength.com/articles/body-types-ectomorph-mesomorph-endomorph.html At first I thought I might be a Ectomorph since I was pretty skinny when
"one of the investments we made with the GalCiv III engine is the campaign system. It was expensive to do for us but it allows us to introduce players to lots of new alien civilizations with their own engaging stories. " Who cares about story campaigns? Nobody plays them anyway. People just play sandbox.
I would also like to add that nations getting a diplo-minus for leaving the UP doesn't make sense either. Nobody actually has to be a member of an international organization. If a nation decided to leave the EU then others would not suddenly hate it for no reason. What would actually happen if the United States or Russia decided to leave the UN? Would other nations treat them completely differently than before? Would anything even happen at all other than some pro-UN people screaming and
While the UP is a nice mechanic, I don't really like it how either everybody is just a member of it or they are not. What I want is a faction system where anybody can create their own UP style faction. Here is how I suggest it be made to work: 1. After the right tech is researched, a race has the option of inviting another race into starting a faction with them. This faction is then named after the homeworld of the race that suggested the pact. For example, if the Terrans start a
The IC is not a government controlling the economy, but rather a corporation acting as a government.
