If they fix it, will the fix apply to my saved game? Or would I have to start new?

I'm 275 turns into a game which unfortunately I'm unable to continue due to it constantly crashing. I was in a long battle with the Drengin to which I was finally able to overtake one of their planets. However, upon destroying the planet that I captured the game crashes to desktop. I've tried multiples saves and multiple tries, every time I destroy this planet the game instantly CTD's. This is a make or break move as I lost a lot taking this planet and don't have t
