You trade your tech for their money over a number of turns. You get more money by trading over time than you would get if you asked for it in a lump sum, that is why they are calling it intrest. There is nothing you can do on Maso that you cant do on other dificulty levels. It is the aliens that are restricted, not you. As a matter of a fact this strategy isnt viable on maso because the aliens value money so much on thatlevel.

I also cant decide wether or not to get it. On the one hand I realy wana get it. Its gottenmany bad reviews and I dont want to get burned again like I did with MOOO3. :( I looked at the boards on the official site and 90% of the comments were bad. While theres always a bunch of bad coments on boards, its still a lot. From what I can tell sevral of the cooler class are broken and in general there are some major balancing issues among the fighter classes. Also right now the xp system seems to dis

noo not the fighters and covetts. I love those things, they make my mil rateings so high. As for tech whoreing, it still works great. I use it in my opening. My basic opening is go 100% spending 100% mil until Im done colonizing. Then I tech to diplomacy. Once I get there I can useualy trade for all the non military techs and maby some money.

I tend to go with stuff that either is realy helpful eary in the game or is always usefull througout the game. My favs are speed +1 (gotta have it lets you get way more planets than anyone else), pq +3%, moral +10, growth +10, I also like the diplo picks. It all depends on what kind of game you want to play, if are going for military victory +atack is nice. The only pics I dont like are the +social/mil/research ones, I just cant get it out of my head that they make me spend money faster :( All t

I dont think evil races should be able to use ALL the good techs. Expecialy the trade and Diplo ones. Benevolence for instance.

I dont know what all has been said, I dont wana read 6 pgs of posts, so excuse me if someone else has already said some of these things. First off, let me be blunt and say that I think what was done to trade goods sucks. It should and probably is being changed. However updates have been comming out once or twice a week sinve the game came out, you cant expect people to be perfect, something like this was bound to happen eventualy. To the players: Everyone should just chill out,

Hosen you are complaining that you almost always need a strong military. Well you realy need to be competeitve in all areas of the game nomatter what win you are shooting for. Try to do a cultural win w/o those nice culture techs, or a military win when your planets are defecting left and right.

I disagree on the tax setting. In the early game keep taxes pretty high. You can always lower it later and you need the money now. Some ways tod a bunch of fighters, corvets, or AMMs to jack up your military rating, so they are will not atack you. Get those two big races to atack each other or if you can't do that then get eveyone else to atack them. I recomed getting some trade goods asap. You can get all the war declarations/tech/money you need with them.

I thought up a couple ideas for star base mods of my own. You should be able to turn star bases into a system. I realy wana create stars + slanets. Have it cost money to build it, like a Terror Star, and have the planets be fairly low pq to lessen cheese. Also I think an advanced movement modual would be cool. Have it give like +10 movement but have it be extreamly expensive to build. This isnt my most coherent message ever, its late and I cant sleep

1) I use hero to scout, but I dont mid going out of my way to pick up an atack bonus or a free ship. 2) My favorite starting tech strategy is to tech to diplomacy and then get industrial theory (AI values this tech ALOT). At that point I can useualy trade techs and can get most avalable techs. 1 thing I never bother getting Defense theory untill midgame, just trade for Weapons theory, its cheap. Then work towards getting trade goods. Once you have a trade good (get but dont trade Diplo

Morpork you said Atari has no name recognition with younger gamers, but I disagree. Im 20, I have never played an Atari, but I know what it is. It is still a cool name. Blizzard would be better, but Im betting that one would be a little more expensive to get ;p

Name says it. I was thinking about creating an event moddeled after something in an Issac Asimov book. Basicly I want to do something like this: G: Earth -PQ 50%-90%, Civ +Range(or Speed) +Growth N: Civ -Range E: Earth -PQ 10%-20%, Civ -Growth +Social +Military +Research I can't remeber the name of the book. I read it a long time ago, I think its part of his Robots of Dawn series (Going into a summery of the book so dont read if u dont wana know). Basicly t

When you buy a trade good from another empire you dont own the good. You are paying to get use it (getting the bonus. The other country still owns it and can sell it to others. Its like when you buy a copy of windows. You can now use windows but Microsoft still owns the code. At least trade goods are a little cheaper than a copy of windows.
