You have several choices to make the game harder. 1. Try smaller maps. You wont be able to use the same tactics to win as you do on bigger maps. 2. Mod the ai to increase their bonus stats. I think its also possible to change what/how the ai builds ships. 3. Play the bigger maps with more and more ai until you find a challenge. 4. Play against human players.

[quote who="Nastytang" reply="102" id="3557298"] Quoting Valtek01, reply 95 It looks like when you use the abundant setting for stars/planets you will get 1 star for each base number you set. And half of the stars will have planets and 40% of those planets will be Habitable. Not sure just how the new setting 16 interacts w
[quote who="Valtek01" reply="92" id="3557274"] Quoting RavenX, reply 90 Valtek01, on the folder structure in the mods folder, do I make it "Gal Civ 3/Mods/New folder/game" and then when it comes to the structure within (step 2a) do all those other folders go in the already created "game" folder? 2600 base was about the most i could create a map with. Anything above that would crash the game before it finished making the map.
[quote who="RavenX" reply="90" id="3557244"] Valtek01, on the folder structure in the mods folder, do I make it "Gal Civ 3/Mods/New folder/game" and then when it comes to the structure within (step 2a) do all those other folders go in the already created "game" folder? Or do all the folders from step 2a go into Mods/New Folder/ then structure from 2a? If I'm only editing 2 xmls both in the same folder do the other folders need to be there if they'll be empty anyway? Al
Well then I'm on par then. I just didn't understand that the game was designed such that once I hit the turn button I can't do anything until the AI is finished doing whatever it is doing. My thinking on the design or I guess past recollection of Gal Civ long ago was that the AI was cooking while you do your thing and then when you hit turn it executes its

[quote who="Frogboy" reply="66" id="3557082"] We balanced the numbers in beta based on what beta testers had. And the founders had substantially better systems than most people. The actual values on planets is in the XML, anyone can change it. So if you want to have 25,000 habitable planet on a map size 20X bigger than insane, you can do that. Hey Ravenx. Hope this helps. 1. Open up your Gal Civ folder in steam and find the file MapSizeDefs.xml It can be found by looking here----> (Steam/Steamapps//common/Galactic Civilizations III/data/game) 2. Copy that file to My Documents/My games/Gal Civ 3/Mods/New folder/game 2a. Inside the new folder make these new folders. 1.Campaigns 2.Core 3. Game 4.ParticleScriptDefs 5.Text 3. Edit the MapSizeDefs.xml file us
I think i can help with this. Find the "Game" folder in your Gal Civ folder. Then copy the file MapSizeDef.xml from that folder into your C:\Users\Documents\My Games\GalCiv3\Mods\New folder\game Once the copy of the file is in that new folder open it using notepad. You will see something like Tiny <HexSe
Played around a bit with map sizes. Insane 0 383 I was only able to raise this to 383. Anything beyond that will crash for me.</st
I think its pretty great. Love the sphere at the back.
Just a quick question. Is it possible to mod the size of the "play map" to be bigger then insane size? Id love to play maps with a much bigger area and more distance between to traverse.
With trails off i have a 63-54 fps. Then when the ships start to move around it drops down 4fps
On insane map with all settings abundant and no pirates and 3 ai i find that by the time ive got 100 planets that the ships on the map seem to be moving in slow motion and it takes forever to finish my turn. This happens without there being a lot of ships on the map. I dont have an issue with how long it takes when i hit the turn button. That goes rather quickly. Its when the ships start to move that there is an issue. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone NOT having it?
I just got a shipyard with 6/5 sponsors by using Ideological trait Beacon. The planet i got from this trait was right next to a shipyard that had 5 sponsors already and the planet automatically made itself a sponsor of the shipyard. Beta 5.1 opt in version.
