I usually play on medium size map with 4-5 opponents. is this mod suited to such a setup?
There's a few things which causes it. Alternatively, there is some weighting in the AI's choice of what to build - early on (til turn 30), it'll build constructors, colony ships and freighters. It won'r build a colony ship if it can't see any empty planets, and will randomly pick between the three (with a bias toward colony ships and a bias against freight). You can just get some unlucky random rolls and an
i always play in medium size map with chanllenging (genius) difficulty. i started a new game with 4 random AIs. By the time i had colonised 10 planets, Each of the AIs only had 2-3 planets. i even managed to colonise a planet that its star was right next to an AI's home star. Then i started a new game with the same settings, and this time the AIs had around the same number of planets as me at the same checkpoint of my previous game. Question is, why is ther
What's the point of building an approval building when you can just plop a factory there in place of it? Personally I think developers created the concept of "morale improving buildings" to confuse the player and make them play worse. They're a trap that will lead you away from the most optimal path. I know I'm not very smart, but any other explanations for why developers created the concept of "morale im
There's a folder that contains all the change longs. But honestly, there's so, so many I wouldn't bother. Play and get a feel for it is what I recommend.
Are you referring to a folder created after you install the community update? Can I check what is the name of the folder?
there were alot of tests done to eruate on the consequences of the changes done, the game became a step or 2 harder to defeat. all changes are documented in the "changes" folder. as of now, you can treat it as a mod and toggle it on/off easily.
Great! So I can actually toggle this community update on and off. I will install it tonight and try a new game with this update/mo
IMO, GalCiv 2 Ultimate Edition has very good AI. It plays ALMOST like a human player. In my experience, it knows how to develop its colonies well, and comes out with strategies on the fly to counter what you are trying to do. That is why I am still playing GalCiv 2 UE on different days. GalCiv 2 has a lot of refine features, strategic options and more depth than GalCiv 3. But that is because GalCiv 2 has 2 expansions and the AI has been tuned over the ma
Dude, if you are not happy you should walk away and return after a few DLC/expansions. Your opinion about playing for an hour or two is just that (your opinion) and obviously is NOT shared by the thousands of players who are enjoying the game. The game was NOT rushed in fact it could have been released earlier.
I second this. Some people are weird. They don't like the game, but yet keep posting neg
I myself am playing both Galciv 2 Ultimate and Galciv 3 on alternate days. The more you get into both, the more you realise both are quite unique yet with similar addictive mechanics. There is just something drug-like induced into Galciv. I need a doc. [e digicons]XD[/e]
I know you can unlock an ideology to reduce the shipyard distance decay. Besides ideology, are there any research for reducing distance decay? If there is, is it available for all races? What is the name of the research?
I emailed steam before and they told me it is not possible as it is 2 different retail companies. I had GalCiv 2 on Gamestop and re-purchase GalCiv 2 on Steam. To me it is worth the support to Stardock, even if I am purchasing another copy of the same thing on steam. You can wait for steam sales and purchase it then.
I agree. I think we need a new difficulty level between 'normal' and 'challenging'. In this new difficulty, the AI has FOW where it needs to explore to gather where are all the habitable planets, resources and relics. At the same time, in this new difficulty level, the AI has the ability to research faster, build faster, high gross income, etc. Imagine in the real world now if we do meet with an advance alien civilization. I would expert the alien to be
Hmmm.. I get what you mean. It might have been auto upgraded and I cannot find it in the midst of all my colonies! [e digicons][/e] That game has ended so I will have to start a new one to test.
Not sure if this has been pointed out, or I am just missing something. I have researched 'Research Coordination' but I cannot build the ''Omega Research Centre'. The building cannot be found on the build list.
Yeah, i meant the elite founders program where you get the base galciv 3 and all the future expansions and DLC for 1 price now. i just want to show my support to stardock and at the same time, i think the icon below your username looks cool [e digicons]:D[/e]
Frogboy, I missed out on the founder program before the release of Galciv 3. I would like to be a founder now. Is there anyway I can 'upgrade' my galciv 3 purchase on steam?
I have played several games. Ok, more like 30. I am sick and tired of overzealous rush to colonize planets in my influence and starbases for resources. One thing I realized is that the AI for some reason gets to tell you dismantle starbase x or else, but the player cannot tell the AI the same thing. Because I would shove a blaster up their arse sideways and fire it. That kind of stuff pisses
What are your system specs like?
Since release till 1.02, I have yet to have any crashes. I believe crashes experienced by others are system specific. Being a true 64 bit game that is capable of having never seen before map sizes, thousands of planets and hundreds of races in a game, it is only natural that some low to mid range systems may not be able to run Galciv 3 smoothly. But the wonderful thing about Stardock is that they will get 99% of issues, for e.g optimizing galciv 3 to the best they can for low end syst
To the GalCiv 3 development team.. Well done on creating GalCiv 3. To me, this 4x strategy game is so addictive that I am finding myself thinking of it while I am at work, and having not enough sleep because I just have to have 1 more turn. I played Civ 5 with all its expansions and feel that GivCiv 3 beats Civ 5 hands down. What you have done is take the fantastic mechanics of GalCiv 2, which I was a big fan of, and improve it with added new minor & m
