Thanks meglobob1. Your post got me back to my "locked" screen again and found a button I had been staring at. Some alcohol may have been envolved. On the "Thanks for participating..." screen, the box at the end that says "Work in progress, got it..." is the button I needed. Left click and play away. Thanks BuckGodot. Good to know. I am working my way through Bamdorf's list now. As he said he is writing for a Win 7 platform but still great stuff. Looking at his profile shows other good looking posts. Changing the file name to . old is no joy for me. Tried changing my display from extended to clone. No joy. Did find out the minimum resolution is 1280 x 768 but again no joy.

I am not having quite that problem. Mine hangs at "This is a beta...." screen after the intro movie. Have read other FAQ and such. Updated, checked again. Uninstalled. Reinstalled. Still the same. Steam says over 100 minutes "played" which is when I let it sit and think about running. Steam won't let me opt in on beta updates as FAQ says it will. Dropped in 8 gig stick for Ready Boost. No change. Yes it is a x64 Win 8.1. Only way to get out of it is with Task Manager. Time to send a
