You know, I think, penlin would be a good game designer :)

I'm not trying to insult you here, it's just that these kinds of "I don't make games, and I don't know how to make games, and I don't know how to make this game better, but this Game isn't good enough." posts are pointless.
I am not a game designer, but I am a game player, including many betas, including Stardock betas.
I guess I don't quite understand why one would make a "I'm afraid the game won't be ready in " thread instead of "The game is lacking in currently, here's a few things you can do to make it better: ....". If you're worried about the game lacking something, wouldn't it be better to post ideas and suggestions that would make the game more complete in that regard? It's okay so say you're concerned, but with
that is what i meant by shallow, i do not mean bugs, missing features, lack polish but a general feeling that comes after playing a few games: been there, done that, next.]
This is exactly what I mean as well. We are not testing much of gameplay! It is quite possible that they have the gameplay testing for already half a year, something that we do not see, but somehow I doubt this. In all good betas, that become good game
...but I disagree with your point that it is only now that the game is starting to shape into a beta.Honestly the word beta has been warped in the industry to indicate not a testing phase, but a preview to the game, where 'beta testers' dont really test anything, they just play the game. Stardock clearly still holds to the true belief that a beta is precisely a testing phase, where players are meant to encounter bugs, graphical glitches, and crashe
I'm not trying to be rude here, just curious, but are you aware that the Beta build that we have is, at least, several full build versions behind what Stardock actually have? The game, on their servers, would be much, much further along than the Beta that we have.
I do not think that they are "much much further", because there would be no reason for beta test with us in that respect. And while we do test
This thing has great potential, but it needs SO MUCH MORE WORK, before it becomes something interesting to play. I think only now the game shapes itself into something that actually could be called beta, but still lots of things are missing or not working, so I am not sure if it can be called beta, it is still more like late alpha. Anyway, I see huge potential, but lots of balancing, tweaking, and fluff is required in this game, but it can not be done properly yet, because lots things
1) When city levels up, one can chose a benefit, however, after I chose it, I do not see it anywhere mentioned, not in city description, nor in other places like calculations for output. It should be more visible. 2) Somehow I can not build gardens, or whatever food producing buildings in the cities, I do not understand why. There probably some requirement for that to appear even as a gray item, but I can not even figure it out. I do not know how, but there must be a way to see that s
I confirm the right scrolling bug
For whatever reasons, my preference is to reverse rotation of the map when I press middle mouse button. Could you please put into options "reverse Y-rotation" and "reverse X-rotation" for middle mouse button? Otherwise I feel like drunk when I try to rotate the view.
If I try to edge scroll to the right it scrolls to the right and down instead of just to the right
Thanks, I have installed pro and have restarted computer. Now it is fine!
Sorry, but bump? Anyone?
Somehow when I run DeskScapes with Fences, my fences disappear in Vista. The icons are simply put on desktop without fences themselves. Do I need restart computer or purchase Fences Pro or do something else?
Cool, thanks.
Can anyone who already got 2.0 clarify those questions?
I can not see OD 2 in impulse, I assume that I have to buy it from website, and after that it will upgrade my OD 1.9 in impulse to OD2.0, and I will not have OD 1.9 icon in impulse any more. Is it right? Or will I see separate 1.9 and 2.0 and I can at any moment revert back to 1.9 if I chose to? If I upgrade, will it preserve my current configuration of the docks and the icons in them? Can I run 1.9 and 2.0 at the same time? Thank you in advance...
Wait a sec. OD 2 is out??? Why can't I see it in impulse?
I hope that the rest of us who is not interested in multiplayer, will still get updates with the new beta versions...
Notice how when you hover your pointer on an enemy, the pointer normally changes to a crossed swords pointer? And how sometimes it doesn't? I think when it doesn't, you're pointing at a shadow/ghost/what-have-you.
Well, as I mentioned in my case, the pointer does change into the crossed sword "attack" pointer if I hover it about the cell with hero and the spider. So, by this definition it is not a ghost.<
I think that right click also can be good idea. And I am not talking windows right click type of interface, but the one that gives your icons arond cursor when you right click (those icons can have sub-menues/sub icons as well if you click them). It is strange that they try to save scrolling time by letting us drag the map, yet they want us to go through the menus on the bottom of the screen, which is fine but if one has "accelerators" through things like double click or middle click
My point is that there should be one. And I am sure that CIV players would want to have a build screen (and I do suspect that majority who play this game are familiar with civ). But of cource the configuration options are even better. Actually, why do we need detail and build screens as two different screens? Can they be combined?
I tried to attack the spider, but I could not. Instead I went to the same cell. If I hover the cursor above the cell, I can see the "attack" cursor, and the info card for the spider. Please also note that info card says that the spider awaits orders. The cell itself shows both my hero and the spider.
I am constantly double clicking on the city expecting the build menu open when you closup to the city. I think it is quite natural shortcut.
I do NOT like silly But I DO like funny "I am out of gum" is silly and breakes the mood perk : +70% pop "Don't ask" is funny and does NOT break the mood. You can have humor withing the limits of the story line and be quite funny without breaking the mood. Just my 2c
