Most games today are derivative, simplistic corporate money-makers aimed at the mainstream and boasting ever improving graphics and little else.
Well, to be fair, elemental is also not inventing the genre. There was MoM and AoW... In fact, it is quite difficult to find original concept in this game.

Do you like to be a beta tester even if you have to pay money for it? (serious question, not a joke, I do for example) Then buy it. You will see how game progresses and you will have influence on this game - Stardock listens. But be prepared that game is not that interesting right now. What is fun is to watch it grow, and becoming good game - it is different kind of fun.

I understand that some people may see it differently, but I would never understand why. At this point it is quite boring to the level that I do not play it.

I can not put my finger on it, but why the tactical combat is so boring in this game? Compare this for example with King's Bounty game - combat shines there. Is combat field too big? Is it because there are no interesting topological elements (blocks) on the field? Is it variety of the units? Is it absence of special abilities? All of it together? Should some weapons be able to hit in two cells? Should there be poison weapons? Should there be more magical units? Or is it because of sq
If none of the Stardock developers gave you warnings about the game ...
That's actually hard to believe. Lots of beta testers even without seeing the 1.06 version (or whatever is the "release" version) understood that the game is rushed. I can not believe that Stardock employees did not rise this issue, unless Frogboy runs Stardock in such way that everyone is afraid to speak his own mind. But this is hard to believe, frankly,

I disagree. Oh I agree that AI is bad, but I think balancing and significant late game changes should be incorporated. Good AI can not be written without first setting the rules of the game, and right now, I suspect lots of changes are needed in the rules in order for the game become fun, THEN good AI is possible to write.

I suggest to add separate topic of late game improvement. Granted right now I can not play much of it, due to performance issue, but something there needs to be done in term of adding fun and removing tedious micromanagement (that includes caravan management and protection). I think this is one of the most if not THE MOST important focus of development, because while despite of all problems, early game is still kind of fun, but mid to late game is not.

Well, I do think that monsters are needed, just reduced amount. However, the late game suffers from many problems, and just reducing amount of monsters will not help. Some automatic way of protecting caravans is needed so that one can build remote outpost and have caravan to it. Presently if you position many units alone the route, they will die sooner or later if you just left them there - they do not heal. The amount of micromanagement in cities should be reduced. Literally for late

Or, they could have taken a couple of months to really polish it and release it then. Either way, I'll have a great game in a couple of months, but at least now I have something to mess around with if I wa

Also, some "repel" towers may be helpful. Basically, one would have to build them alone the caravan roads if outside sphere of influence. But who would build them? Pioneers? Or separate class - builders (separate item to make builders in unit design) Alternatively or in addition, the road itself may repel monsters with some width (one may need to build improvement on the road to do that) Also, currently pathfanding for units is not very good, it does not use cities as a shortc

I have 3G of memory (Vista 32 max). And while it does generate errors if I alt-tab the game, it generates regadles if I play this save file or not. I think the problem here is some kind of infinite loop somewhere that consumes resources.

That's why sometimes I'll quit and start a new game, I find the early and mid game more interesting...
Yes, but I think it is especially bad in this game, due to all those monsters, and absence of ANY negative aspect to grow. In civ there is corruption and city maintenance, there is nothing like this in this game.

Unless one go quickly for the victory (like conquest) on tiny map, the late game is very bad. There are 2 problems 1) Technical problem - the game just become VERY slow. I have good computer, I do not think it should slow down like that. More over, it seems that it just hits some kind of barrier, like in 20 turns around turn 150 it converts from OK to run game, to nearly impossible to run. 2) Late game mechanics. When you kingdom is big, it becomes just way too tiresome to pla

1) Load this saved game . 2) Press end of turn button. The game become extra slow. 3) After some time a window will open asking if I want to combat some troops. Press auto resolve. 4) After some time a window will come with battle results. Click OK That's it. The game never finishes "end of turn" processing and VERY slow. Overall the performance of the game was quite good until like 5 turns ago, when it sudd

Magicians are the units that have magical spells but only of a single book. The book school can be defined by several things. It could be special building in the city. It could be researched in magic branch of reseach. It could be simply that the city with particular shard resource produces particular magicians. Combining (training larger troops) should improve intelligence, while incising veterancy should increase manna/essence and health. Actually, the unit has to be designe
