I've been able to play for a few hours without any crash or obvious bug, so the game is definitely stable on my hardware. on the other hand, after leaving the game, I still had a GalCiv process using 1.7 GB and quite a bit of CPU, so it seems you forgot something in the threads cleaning-up. A point in the game mechanics: when you colonize a new planet, could it be possible to place manually the colony capital? Most of the times, it seems it is set randomly on an isolated tile, whi
