What traits are are one shot, and which ones are constant? Most of them are obvious, but there are a couple that I would like to know about. Are Unforgiving (+25% to colony production) and Relentless (More land per colony) One-shot, or constant?

I have several ideas to make the map editor better (although I think I may have seen them somewhere before). First, Allow us to customize a planet. Not just what type it is, or how big it is, but where the tiles are, and what kind of bonuses (if any) they have. Second, allow us to choose the colonization event (if any), rather than it being random, save for Precursor Worlds.
Question. I created a custom map, but when I try the Unlock command (for example, unlock PlanetarySpecialization1), it says "Failed to find Tech" When I play in a map the computer generated, however, it works. How do I solve that problem?
To Erischild: What I'm saying is that this is a great game. Why not push it a little over the top and make it amazing? Why not release the best game you can? I guess with me it's not "this is great, let's keep doing it like this. It's ok team, we put out a good/great game. How can we do better? What can we add to really woo our fans?" And besides, I thought this was the forum for future ideas? Wouldn't you post here if you thought you had a good idea to make this game bett
I will concede some of it is my playstyle, but I still think the +2 pop is a bit far down the line
I didn't say I didn't like GalCiv 3, I said it could be made better with the inclusion of tactical combat. There's a difference. The GalCiv games are my favorite 4x games. And there's a few who like being able to wwatch the battle. I was thinking of not removing the battle viewer, but adding third button that allows you to command the battle.
I also have the problem of detouring to Missionary Center, plus the Pragmatic line (freighter and the entire constructor line, plus the Pragmatic Center, and the Intimidation Center of the Malevolent line) so I end up settling all the worlds I'm interested in and not getting the useful point when I actually need it... :(
when I say I cheat, what I mean is I use the console to give me culture points and credits (but that's about it, although it can be used for more). I also make a map that gives me a lot of the relics (culture, approval, research, manufacturing, and economic, in that order), plus I create a section of the galaxy that suits my tastes, lots of 26 pq planets, and quite a few precursor worlds. And the more I tinker with my maps, the more I cheat. I've learned that a shipyard can't be s
The Preparedness Center is like the Intimidation Center or the Missionary Center, 1 point every 5 turns. And that's why I cheat my ass off in both Civ 5 and this game, to make things like increased population) actually useful. And I noticed still no answer on what Slave Masters actually does, and whether or not it stacks with Luxury...
[quote who="Larsenex" reply="1" id="3634119"] There is no tactical mode. The CEO of Stardock has said there never will be as this game is not about combat. Personally I can do without it as well. I like watching the combat but its not required. The game is about managing an Empire, not carefully planning on where each ship goes in combat. The entire argument about Tactical combat was done in many thre
As the topic title says, I feel the ideology points should be shifted around a little. First, I'd switch Prolific (+2 pop) with Explorers (free class 10 planet). By the time I'm able to get it (actually, I've never gotten it w/o cheating, and I play on the largest map...), there's no point to +2 pop when you colonize because there's nothing worth colonizing. Civ 5 Brave New World did something similar, but was even worse- not only did you have to reach the industrial age (
This is one of my favorite 4x games (sorry to qualify it, but it doesn't come close to being one of my favorite games, although it's not any fault with the game, most- if not all- of my favorites are RPGs, like Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment). That said, there are a few things that can be made better, particularly in the combat viewer. Currently, all you do is watch your ships fight. I would actually love for you to be able to command your ships in battle. Right now,
Especially since there's a merc that does that. I would also love to see a merc ship (or a component for your ships) that gives Benevolent/Pragmatic Ideology points (and Malevolent for ship component)
Is there anyway to add minor race planets, so a minor race doesn't start at a planet I specifically designed for myself? The race took the Bread Basket planet I was planning on using for colonizing the Precursor Worlds (who have a -50% pop cap). I figured out how to make Major Race planets, but there no minor race planets. Honestly, your map designer really needs a lot of refinement. It's one of the worst I've worked with. Granted, my experience is limited to Neverwinter Nights to
I just beat GalCiv 3 as the Torians (tech victory, if that matters), yet I did not get Out of the Deep and to the Stars achievement.
I've been having a problem with GalCiv 3 losing sound, and then just completely freezes.I don't get an error message or anything, and even when I use the Task Manager, it doesn't say "Not Responding," but the game just locks up. System specs: Windows 10 Pro 64 bit Intel Core i7-3770k CPU @350GHz 16 GB ram NVidia GeForce GTX 660
Do multiple starbases overlapping stack? For example, if I use Earth as my primary (only) trade route, do 2 or 3 economic starbases overlapping Earth add more to the trade income than just one?
There's atleast one thing that is/was in GalCiv 2 that's not in 3, and that is espionage. Is there any reason it was not implemented?
First, how does the A.I. deal with your points? I've seen other races hate me because I have a different ideology from them, even if I have equal numbers of points in each tree. How does it work? If I want to be friends with Good Civs, do I have to choose only Benevolent Points? Second, does Slave Trading (Malevolent) override Luxury Trading (Pragmatic), or do they stack? And what do they actually do? I get the feel that Luxury Trading gives more money, but what about Slave Tradin
