I can't disagree with any of those points, not that I'm really qualified to try. I can't say that I'm particularly excited about DX12 or glNext. I like pretty games as much as the next guy, but gameplay is what really needs a shot in the arm in my opinion. I feel like I've been playing the same five games for the last decade, and under the hood tech isn't going to solve that problem.
People are too hung up on hardware. There is a line between micro and tedium, and most of the items on this list fall into the tedium category for me. Fortunately they all se

I've managed to avoid this Gamergate nonsense thus far, but I'm surprised that people are still clinging to the name despite how toxic it has become. I don't really care which reviewers are boinking developers; reviews are subjective, ad revenue is king, and none of this is likely to change in my opinion. Nepotism is the norm everywhere, at least in my experience. The gaming press is not remotely unique in that regard. Maybe the energy behind Gamergate would be better spen

2014 was good to me on every platform. Alien: Isolation, Mario Kart 8, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, Elite: Dangerous, Diablo 3 (PS4), Southpark: The Stick of Truth, Child of Light, Transistor, The Forest, Age of Wonders 3, Galciv3. I would also add Prison Architect and State of Decay, which I didn't play until mid-2014. There were a few titles that I didn't care for: Endless Legend, Dragon Age Inquisition, Starbound (I hated the controls, but I'll pr

It's a little early for this, but I'm curious about DLC/Expansion plans for Galciv3. There have been a few mentions in the dev streams about expansions; does anyone remember what they were? What would you like to see, and do you have any thoughts about smaller dlc or larger, traditional expansions? Chances are good that I'll buy whatever Stardock releases for this game, but it's fun to speculate. I would like to see 2-4 races added (or returning) in the future, balance
Trust is only one potential diplomatic keystone, big pointy sticks & hats made of money are two other ones with the capability to override certain levels of mistrust with ease..
That's very true. Fear and self-interest are big factors. No one is suggesting that the Drengin (or anyone else) be barred from making deals, only that they suffer a diplomatic penalty (which I think should be modified or repla

There are far, far more examples of failed diplomacy due to a lack of trust than the reverse. Trust is the bedrock of diplomacy regardless of edge cases to the contrary. Would you trust the Drengin? Of course not, and neither would I. Nevertheless, from a gameplay point of view they may be sufficiently penalized already, but the fiction suggests otherwise.
Not having played drengin too much, it seems like they could pop out & stab aggressively, then offer peace in exchange for $stuff... maybe even some of the captured worlds starting to fail if peace isn't enough to get what they want. A diplomacy penalty would be ineffective since getting attacked by a weaker party is self negating when their military strength drops below yours enough & - skill in diplomacy becomes ++Much

This is important to know the specific number of turns the game in Question lasted. 3. Consider all The 4X strategy games that you have ever pla

I don't want to barge in on the conversation, but I think it's worth noting that Galciv2 had this option; it allowed finer granularity by selecting starting relations per-civ, whereas a single option to show all races at game start might be appreciated by some players, myself included. As long as it's optional it shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah, I know the feeling. Aging is no fun at all. I have difficulty reading the forum fonts as well, but get by with the zoom settings in Chrome. Larger fonts would be a great option for us blind old geezers. Maybe I'll try Lasik one of these days.

My vision is not as good as it used to be and I occasionally have to squint to read tooltip text at a glance. The UI and fonts are in general very clean and easy to read, which I appreciate (you should lend your UX designers to Paradox) , but an option for larger or bolder tooltips would be great. Larger text in general would be a nice option, but I think it's fine as-is, at least at the resolutions I've played at.
What you can do is create a new steam account for each game you buy. It puts more record keeping on your shoulders but you get the flexibility you really want. I know it's absurd but it really does work.
That is fantastically ridiculous. I salute you. I feel your pain but you'll be a happier gamer if you make peace with the market. I've been a pc gamer for nearly as long as pc's have been around and sales and discounts have been a part of it all along. Sure, Steam has accelerated the trend, but I could list hundreds of titles I've purchased over the years only find them on sale soon after release. I like to think that I've saved more money than not over the years, and while I have a list of regrettable purchases (Daikat

It also fits with the fiction of the series (for whatever that's worth) for all races to be known at this point in the chronology. I would still prefer options to control this behaviou

I have to agree with the OP, it's a rubbish policy that punishes legitimate customers. If the Steam people want to limit games to 1 instance per account they have the power to do so, but the blanket policy in place today needlessly hobbles the sharing feature. I suspect that these anti-consumer limitations were put in place at the behest of publishers, as is so often the case with any sort of digital media.

My previous system lasted 3-4 years, backed by a 2500k @4GHz and 16GB ram. I upgraded to a GTX 780 Ti in January for a little extra muscle. I sold that system recently and bought a modest gaming laptop and haven't looked back, and likely never will. I have a PS4 for graphically demanding titles and mostly play strategy games and indies on my laptop.
