I agree. Having an governor that properly specializes a planet and can control the distribution between production/research/wealth would be perfect. And they could be used by AI to make the planets not terrible.

Love it. And I also agree that the calculations have to take into account defenses. But I like the proper differentiation for mass/damage/cost.
The issue here is that carriers are supports. As that, they don't approach the enemy and stay at range, or even move in opposite direction. After battle with front line ends, enemy then cases the support ships, but they are usually far away so it takes some time. I think the distance is actually not properly displayed. It seems the ships flee "up" but "up" is not properly displayed direction.
After playing some games and looking at battle mechanics, there are few details that are not clear to me. This comes down to non-obvious mechanics like accuracy and speed. Looking at base accuracy of all weapons, they are extra high. From studying some battle logs, it seems misses are extra rare.
