Gotta ask about the races though, are they just going to be renamed repeats of the same races? Am i going to start on earth and somehow discover hundreds of human civilizations starting up? My solution would be a sort of randomizer for creating races, including their portrait (different head shape, eyes, skin colour etc). Diplomacy could be conducted with just a static picture instead of creating the animated leader for every one (and it would be a bit of a treat to fin

I never liked the fact that you can cram a significant portion of a planets population into a transport ship anyways, if they insist on having billions to start up a colony or invade a planet they could at least make it a trade rout like system where the ship ferries them over multiple turns (which would also add troop supply lines as another element to military strategy)
[quote who="EvilSalmon" reply="12" id="3474784"] Wrong unfortunately. Mass is not negated in space. Only weight is. Nothing in space is "at a stop" It's always in motion with respect to something else. ALWAYS. For example if you are "stationary" with respect to an asteroid you're actually still in motion, QUITE fast actually and the relative velocities with respect to other objects are just that... relative and varied. Using a small force to move a Massive ob
The thing about space is smaller craft are not going to be faster, they might be a bit more maneuverable (which is almost a moot point in such a vast area) but a battleship is going to be able to simply outrun them. Destroyer sized hulls should be the smallest for any space warfare. Fighters would only be good in planetary actions. Though something that would work is a ship that deploys a bunch of drone weapons platforms. They don't zip around like
For the ground combat and colonization, are you going to do something about the scale of population? It was always odd to conscript half a planets population, (luckily people seem to reproduce every week) stuff about a billion people into a single ship and drop them on the other planet where they take it over and immediately settle.

Rather, military units should be produced rather than just dragging people aboard a ship. and instead of sending millions in a total ground campaign, a few regiments/divisions of elite shock troops
