What about asteroid fields, moons and such? Will asteroid fields give you a production bonus to a planet of your choice or will it just give you credits? One would think its minerals could help boost production on a planet if the "loot" is hauled there. The same with moons. If planets have moons and you set up a base (or colony) its production should help the planet aswell since most ship/starport building should be in orbit and not on the ground. There could also

Well, for one it relalistic to research multiple topics. I liked the randomness of Master of Orion that you gave funding into a certain field and got results thereafter. Its actually more slow irl to just focus on one field. We could have super warp engines but still communicate via smoke rings... I know GalCiv will be more straightforward than that and will have a set tech tree with x ammount of techs that you can research. But it would be neat To be able to research multiple things at

You dont actually travel "up or down" if there isnt a full fledged 3D map in GalCiv 3 No, they really can't. Take our solar system. The asteroid belt in it is pretty flat. It's made up of a huge number of asteroids. Yet they're so far apart that they aren't an effective barrier to anything. So to use some

I would think that more gravity would require a ship to go faster just to maintain its orbit than with a star with lesser gravity and a ship at the same orbital distance. Yes, that would be the case but in a 4x game the effect could/would be a slower movement (since we dont have a sense of speed in a 4x game) to escape its gravity (much like in scifi movies/series where try to "get away" from a black hole or other things with a massive gravitational pul
The thing with mines would easily be solved if you have fuel on your ships. Then the route taken would be very important. That would also mean that protecting fuel stations and ways of getting it would be very important. Also giving you a deeper economy. I would love to see a deeper economy system in general. I dont know what types of resources will be in the game but i would hope more than credits. It would make defending, building and enhancing places in space more im
Sovereign - Massive Mass Effect fan and it would fit well for a Red Giant star with some special attribute. It would be awesome if starts could have attributes (if you are to close you take damage, your shields are weaker/stronger, your feul reloads (if there is such a thing), and so on. I would think a star like Sovereign doesnt take your crap and has a massive gravity pull and makes your ship move slower around it.
Founder signing in! There is some problems with this page :P I tried to reset my password via galciv3.com and it sent me an empty mail XD. Worked from the main Stardock page tho! EITHER WAY! Im a proud founder having spent countless days in GalCiv2! The only problem i had with the game was the space battles. I hope they will be more... whats the word... 'involving' in GalCiv 3. You guys are worth every penny!
