Well, I incorporated all of these tips and tricks, mainly changing production management on planets and massive colony ship rush, and I WON (on conquest/alliance victory conditions)! Nice! Thanks everyone! Now, the good news and the bad news. The good news is that by the time I got attacked by the second most powerful civilization, I was able to bring up my military research fast enough to fend them off (I lost 4 planets, but got them all back +2 before

Excellent! Thanks again. =) That's exactly what I needed to know. Ship design also appears to be central to a lot of people's strategies so I'll have to dig into that. Right now I've just been using the stock ships, and that's probably part of my problem.
OK, I've beat the game multiple times on normal, so I just bumped the difficulty level up to "challenging", and now I can't seem to build an empire worth a crap and I'm guessing it's because I don't fully understand how population works. On "normal" I absolutely crushed everyone, no problem! My empire got 6 times powerful as all other races combined by the third age. So, I bumped the difficulty up a notch and now I can't even compete on empire st
A queue system like that would work as well! A couple of thoughts: The first is that GC3 is a already a GREAT game in my opinion. Every time I play it I learn new things and the randomness of the maps make it a different challenge every time. (I would like to see a map editor at some point!) I think we could come up with some VERY creative scenarioes just by mucking with the map layouts. Like last night, almost by accident, I decided to level up m
LOL! I don't hate starbases, but there is a lot of "grunt work" involved in working with them. With the planets you can do a lot of "fire and forget" on them and they build a lot on their own (if you choose that). Overall though, I LOVE this game! So much more potential on top of what they already have. Also glad it came along because Endless Legend was crashing and bombing out on every single game and they didn't seem very interested in fixing
PS: Sorry for the length! =)
OK, before I get flamed, I just want to throw out some things that I have experienced now that I've thrown a couple hundred hours into playing GC3. These things are not "re-inventing the wheel" because I think a lot of GC3 is already great, but there have been some things that have really nagged me, personally, so if I am duplicating what has been said elsewhere, please forgive me! Here are some things that "jump right out" that I think would make the game experience much
Just going to throw my hat into the ring: First off, if you mouse over (or click, I can't remember) on the race in question, you should get a pop up telling you what your standing is with a particular race, and more importantly why you have this standing. Conflicting ideologies are one of the root causes of war. If you are a peaceful culture, it would make sense for a warrior culture to find this disgusting as it's a sign of weakness (remember the Klingons
Um, I am not sure if this will help, but I run Windows on a Mac, and it's a Geforce card. I ran into a LOT of visual problems as well, and they did greatly impact the game graphics on my machine. What I found out is that there were two issues causing problems for me. The first is that Windows has a power management setting that affects screen brightness and contrast. I first had to STOP windows from auto adjusting this. The setting is buried, so here is
Thanks for the feedback guys! I did want to kindly ask that we keep on topic for the "right-click" dismissal option, which is why I started this thread. But lots of great ideas! I like the sectors idea, and the supporting planets groupings, among others. =) Kyoss79: I know, right?
HI! I just switched over to playing Galactic Civilizations from Endless Legend and I have to say THANK YOU for such an awesome game (It's much easier to play than GCiv2 for me!). I already love GCiv3, but there is ONE feature that EL has that GCiv3 does not have, and that's what I call "right-click-dismissal" of empire management screens. To me, (being a "mouse guy") it's kind of a big deal, so let me explain why: Essentially, this featu
