Most of the games that have in game voice chat are MMO, or shooters of some sort. But i just how cool would it be if there was voice chat for diplomacy segments in multiplayer (provided there will be diplomacy phase of the turn or something of that sort). Since 4x games MP sessions tend to get long(think HoMM3, Civ3) voice chat could go a long way in shortening the game just by means of optimizing communications. SO 2 or more players in an alliance can use voice chat all the time

I had exactly the same idea. There must be some restrictions to this. First of all not every dud should be useful there must still be completely useless planets around. Because if you could mine every single dud in the galaxy that would just be to time consuming and also boring. There are also some questions that need to be sorted out. Are they going to work like asteroids? Would you use a space miner or constructor vessel? Upgradeable or not? How will existing
I did not like green stars. For starters, unrealistic. Secondly, usually they had a bunch of dud planets that left me feeling icky!!!
I see ground combat to be heavily tied in with troop transports, planet building, colonization and military tech mechanics. Expanding on mechanics listed above will enable developers to expand ground combat into something more meaningful but not necessarily more time consuming. A better ground combat system in galciv3 should not be something like battles in HoMM3 but should be more like 1 turn with 1 soldier vs
Quoting JPowell, reply 18 I would also like to see a return to the original Gal Civ (and MOOII) galaxy map, where "hyperdrive" was between star systems, and the systems had their own separate screen showing the planets and asteroids surrounding the star. Star systems have virtually no importance in Gal Civ II, as habitable planets are sprinkled randomly around the map. Returning to the star system maps emphasizes the
Paul Boyer touched on the UI in an interview a little while back: Paul Boyer One of the biggest challenges of mastering Galactic Civilizations II was the user interface; it was done before rich tooltips were popularized. In Galactic Civilizations III we will be able to give players much more feedback without overwhelming them with crazy, complicated scenes. Sounds like they're on it.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a pop-up or some such for planet information, like the sort ya want, in GalCiv3. If not we can beg for it. Maybe a right-click on the planet to pull up it's menu or whatever.
Yes yes that's the sort of thing i was shooting for. And to Jack; I was talking about colony list, i would like colony list to be half a screen or be moved to a secondary
This is kind of what i wanted when i made a thread called Enriching the galaxy. One of the reasons for that was that when i played Mass Effect 3 mini mining and scanning game with the Normandy SR2 there was a ton of planets in the galaxy and each one had a small or a long description about some ruin being found, or scientists discovering something, or that this particular gas giant is a an extra-solar capture, or binary stars, systems with different star sizes(because lets face it
So, like in GC2, clicking on a planet in the planet list taking you to the location of the planet is too much effort?
Simply clicking on a planet would allow one to see what ships were being built and their time frames. I never had problems with not knowing what was being built while playing the largest maps. Most the planets were fairly generic, I would place everything (usually) as soon as I colonized a planet. The special projects and wonders I placed personally so knew where they were and their times of completion. If I ever
Honestly after playing a few huge galaxies GC2, its interface left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. I instantly saw things that could be done with 1 or 2 clicks less. Things like fleet grouping, and being unable to see what what building is under construction on a planet without entering the planet building screen rly annoy me. I would much rather have a small icon above the planet displaying ship and building under construction with time until completion next to t

I pretty much like everything you said. Some space "weather" like nebulae gas clouds and gravity wells could go a long way to improving not only variety but also deepening the strategical gameplay.

Still i wouldn't mind a cannon on the moon lol
This post reminded me of that time when i conquered Thala and was rly looking forward to the manufacturing matrix to only find out that the moron NPC placed it on 300% food tile while there was a 300% Manufacturing tile already. DOH!!! That @sshat left me with a crowd of some 32 billion or something around that.
Great, i was kinda disappointed there for a minute.
Since i first got into GC games somewhere around dreadlords, i always felt like the galaxy was kind of empty and boring. I Found it weird that planets were either colonize-able or just empty boring useless dots on your screen that once discovered you could just forget you ever were there. If you started in a corner with a few sectors behind you and you discovered there was nothing of interest there you would just keep pushing the line and most of the g
Rly? Crazy so many times i have played the game and yet not once i have seen one of those.
I have not decided yet but i was thinking Gagarin to honor the first human in space who tragically died in a plane accident after he uplifted humanity. Or maybe Armstrong for doing the same thing.
In the big scope of things gc games are strategical and not tactical so i would imagine that such minute things as individual ship dmg are on the very thin end of priorities design team has in front of them.
Atm nobody rly knows much about the new fleet battle system. IMHO one of gc2 weakest points was the auto battle system, so hopefully they are working on something that will give more control to the player. If we could at least get a glimpse of how battles are going to go down in gc3 then we could go into the details. Other then that id say its a nice idea to command your ships to focus fire on different parts of the enemy ships. I have personally seen
I tend to care about certain worlds, specifically high bonus, high PQ, or those with good colonization bonuses. A planet that can crank out +60% ships deserves lots of care and micromanagement, a random 12 PQ planet with a x2 manufacturing bonus tile is going to get a factory on that time, then stock market spammed until I build over the factory and that's the last I'll ever care about it.
Yeah that's exac
