I bet there’s a helluva lot more fans who want a new Star Control than there are people who know or who care who programmed one of the versions decades ago. I vaguely remember some of the aliens and the slave shield thing. What I remember the most is exploring and meeting interesting characters.
What is "a long time"? Every post I just read there is new as of 3.0 and some aren't really bugs (having a shortage of food not causing starvation or something is a design choice, not a bug, it's not like Civ made my tanks not run if I had negative oil).
Like in other games, it just prevents you from building more.

I don't think it's fair to compare Stardock's handling of Elemental to StarDrive or SOTS2 or Legends of Pegasus. Elemental was a disappointment. I flamed it the week it was released more than anyone. But they made good on it and people seem to ignore that. They made the original War of Magic into a decent game. If you bought it, load it up and play it. It's pretty fun.
