It would be handy to be able to place notes on hexes. The note could pop up on hover. Notes could be restricted to a character count to stop the pop-up causing too much trouble. A hex with a note attached could have the same border colour except slightly thicker. However a thicker border would not work well for hexes containing a planet. I grant that a big question would be the control you use to create a note, what with right click being for movement. As an alternative, just

I agree with the top post. I played a whole game on 'beginner' as a new player and I barely bothered with the population figure as I didn't know its importance.

There is still a bug related to this. I got to the stage where I needed to build the ascension gate and when I placed it on a planet all the build times (including for every other improvement/building) started to read "N/A". Because the ascension gate is special I thought maybe the "N/A" reading was just a sign of the gate's specialness so I let a few turns go by.
