Wow, here are pages of essays on what makes a good 4X strategy game. Good job everyone! I won't write an essay, but I will try to answer the questions briefly. 1) I prefer diplomacy that is as interactive as possible. I like it when other leaders come to me with good ideas or challenge something I am doing (especially if it is not obvious, like amassing troops on a border). Having pages which give players some idea of other races' relationships is also helpful. Preferabl

I really do like the production wheel. Sliders are probably better for selecting exact values to the nearest whole percentage point. The production wheel is more intuitive and makes it easy to change my empire's focus quickly (and frequently, if desired).

This update has made the game playable on my machine for the first time. I keep getting a "(game) is not responding" message when loading maps, but the loading finishes within a reasonable time. Other than that, the game appears to be working well for me. [e digicons]:D[/e]

March 27th is the day I get allergy shot testing and my braces tightened with "close power bands." After that, the alpha version of the game will be fun, no matter what condition it is in. [e digicons]^_^[/e] Thanks for the announcement and clarification. I am looking forward to trying the game.

Thanks for the FAQ. It's great to have some more specifics on game mechanics. I will be satisfied with the proposed battle system as long as it adds meaningful strategic depth to battles. Adding an element of uncertainty to the process, where ideal ship assignments are not obvious and results vary according to the decisions made by the opposing party, should help to keep the system interesting. The only thing I can compare this to is the battle system in Endless Space. This

Thanks for the update. This is the first alpha-stage game project I have participated in, so it is nice to know what to expect from the early release. I plan to spend a little time on the alpha, report the bugs I encounter, and wait for more features to be released. I don't mind if an early release of a strategy game of this complexity is buggy, unbalanced, and limited in content. Based on my previous experience with Stardock betas, I will enjoy seeing how the game develops. </

I never understood why I could pay to instantly turn a good civilization into an evil one or an evil civilization into a good one upon researching Xeno Ethics in GalCiv II. This might be possible through a gradual and expensive process of education and government intervention, but it didn't make sense to me that I could change my civilization's ethical alignment simply by paying XXX BC on the lump sum or installment plan. I agree with Brad that the "ideologies" concept sounds mor

I just tested my system and confirmed it was a 64 bit version of Windows 7 with DirectX 11 compatibility. As a budget-conscious gamer, I normally don't pay more than $15 for my computer strategy games (through Steam sales), but I will gladly part with the $100 to support my favorite small game studio and gain early access to the newest iteration of this fantastic 4x strategy series. I know the development process will involve major challenges, but I am confident in Stardock's ab
