Have you considered instead of just consuming 1 administrator per starbase, you consumed a partial administrator per starbase module? Perhaps a starbase consumes 1 administrator, but each module consumes 0.1. Letting you make decisions about how generalized you want starbases to be vs how many you need. That gives you some nice tall vs wide gameplay I'd think.

Could we maybe also get a faction name / leader name at the top for those random diplomacy pop-ups? Yeah its really easy to tell the terrans from the drengin, but what If I play with lots of custom races, that have the same picture, but with a different background or different icon??? Its nearly impossible to remember all the races in my 50-60 AI games. I hardly ever have any Idea who is contacting me with those popups for tribute/war/tech/etc.

I had this same issue when playing with a friend. Wanted to add some 60+ randomly generated XML factions and home systems to my multiplayer experience. Note that the way mods work in this game is by temporarily replacing or injecting YOUR MOD XML into the BASE GAME XML. I play on an Nvidia Surround setup, with 3 monitors that puts me at 5760x1080 resolution. As far as I can tell no turn based game would really benefit from this resolution, and I wouldn't want to play on it.
