I appreciate the help, but I opted to just delete the files. I went through like you said, and all I got was a whole 'lotta nothing. On the plus side, if one enters a new fleet style name, and then selects "Save Fleet Style Only", it has (so far) allowed for a custom ship style for a custom civilization, without duplicates and without errors. Even better, I have several screenshots of my ships, so I can fairly easily recreate them. Again, thanks for the help.

Well, I seem to have solved the problem, but I can't get the "old" designs to show up anymore. At least I have a reason to make even better ones now.
Ah, I see. The error messages are gone, and I think I see the mistake when designing a ship, but how do I "reclaim" my custom designs from the old folder?
I renamed the file, I did not delete it. It still deleted ALL of my custom ships, starbases, and shipyards.
It did nothing. I've been able to delete some of the duplicates, but there's still some holdovers.

I've searched these forums, and I don't see my problem there, so I'm making a new post here. Every time I start this game, I get a slew of error messages saying that my custom ships are not recognized. The models show up in-game, I have all the DLC, and I have experienced no bugs whatsoever in terms of ships being listed. But when I go into Fleet Style for my custom civilization to pick the default models, under "Ship Style" it has dozens of the same name.
If by "building" you mean "starbase" then yes. You just have to build using a "Cargo" size hull, and then save it as a Starbase. Then, when customizing your civilization's ship and fleet style, you simply put whatever model you built in the Shipyard and various Starbases.
This is one of the few games that I will actively pre-order/buy at launch. Trust gets you money, developers, so thank you for keeping my trust. That means you get my money.
Late comment, but I think this is worth mentioning. Not angry, not upset, not even offended; just some additional perspective that I've found very useful in navigating this landscape. Brushing against real-life concepts; someone can claim to be "Christian" but if they lie and cheat and steal, then their claim is empty words. Much like how I could claim to be a mechanic, but if all I do is smash in windshields and slash tires, then am I really a mechanic?</
I definitely want to see the next part of the story; the shield goes down, and the resurgent Earth Fleet takes to the stars..... *ROLL CREDITS* "What." "WHAT!" I need to know what happens next, I want to see if the Altarian Prophecy is fulfilled to our benefit or our detriment! Plus, if we're talking about this, I'd like to see some of the ship designer from GalCiv2 here in GalCiv3, namely the "color sliders". I lik
