I agree about the planetary colonization event pop up. If I remember right GCII had the planet name and class displayed right above the text and options, then again each event had a distinct visual on the screen, so it could very well be that this is something that is already planned to be (re)-implemented or if it is not, it really should because I see how that can be confusing and lead to some frustration down the line as strask mentioned. I also think it could be cool to see an anima

In my most recent playthrough I thought it was rather random as I would have planets with 8 or 10 max population maxed out which were much more unhappy than a planet with 16 or 20 max population maxed out despite approval buildings (of which only one can be built per planet, if you do not count economic buildings, which seem to be more effective at raising approval anyway for some reason...). I thought it might have something to do with planet quality or type and found some relief when I rese
I tried out the Beta yesterday, and since the only option is to conquer the opposition to win the game (I know it is still Beta and all) it would be helpful to be able to actually be able to conquer all the enemy worlds. I had a problem that when I tied to launch to invasions on autopilot (executed after hitting end turn), one succeeded the other did not and the planet that was not conquered remained unconquerable for many turns thereafter (as in I could move my invasion ships within one hex
I remember from GCII that the tech announcing robot changed appearance based on the player's ethical alignment, I wonder if that is making a return or if the robot will take on a distinct appearance for each civilization, or perhaps a mix of both (though that might be a bit too much work for what is purely an aesthetic feature). Either way I agree it is a nice touch, I also like the return of the sometimes witty tech descriptions after researching them in that same screen.
I agree that it seems that how interlinked wealth is to approval it makes approval focused buildings unnecessary. I also think that fixing approval by focusing production toward wealth via the govern wheel is very limiting as it takes away the ability to focus on production or research just to maintain a decent approval rating. I think that wealth and approval are way to interlinked right now leading to a very unintuitive way of dealing with approval. I also found it strange that if populatio
To add to my prior post, by outlook and goals for the civilization I primarily mean how that civilization views itself with respect to the greater galaxy and the type of attitude it takes toward other civilizations. The reason I chose those particular names is because I believe benevolent ideology values all life and wants to great a sense of harmony or enlightenment for its citizens and the galaxy at large so a sense of a galactic society or community would be their aim, pragmatic ideology l
Well given that the first is age of expansion and the last is age of transcendence, the age names seem kind of fixed on the level of development of your civilization in as much as the current goal pervading the game at that particular point. I agree that age of war seems a little misplaced as it implies that conflict, in this case armed conflict is inevitable, which is not the case (or at least I hope as that would not leave much room for other avenues to victory). I think age of soci
Here are my thoughts on this... 1.) I agree the zig zagging to go in a straight line is kind of ridiculous, I know it is because of the hexes but it still seems a little silly and offputting. 2.) I have not really noticed this so much, must be lucky I guess, then again I do not spend much time all the way zoomed out, I prefer to look at the visuals up close, which look very nice so far. 3.) I have done two complete plays through the Alpha and colonized and conquered ma
I really agree as well, I understand that a ship being completed can be inferred from it no longer being worked on in the right scroll planet list thing, but a pop up message at the beginning of every turn and a little button on the right side similar to GC2. These would be very welcome old sights indeed as it can be easy to lose track of what planet has finished building which ship especially when you have more than enough planets to fill that right window. Though I am sure there are plans t
I like the ideas to add more animation to the game and I think it would be nice to extend it to starbases as well. Yes it is all well and good that we see new modules as they are added, but I think that starbases could use some more visual effects to reflect certain modules particular combat or economic enhancers by adding some small craft flurrying around the starbase, or to give certain modules distinctive glow effects. On a more functional standpoint, I think some depth could be ad
