Anyway, what should happen is that 1.01 will come out and it should feel a lot better for those players experiencing issues.
that is great to hear, But the sad part is the most people don't have any patients and want it all yesterday. I know i am certainly excited to play it, and even more excited to see how much better it gets in the next 2-3 years. GC2 is o

wow thanks folks.. and frogboy! It sounds like this game really is a great next step. I just love GCII, so it looks like you will get me to buy GCIII. I have been watching this since the founder thing happened and i am glad to hear that the game has lived up to the GCII rep, and went beyond. and yea, i guess the Q has been asked a bunch, but i figured with the launch and the game now considered out of beta, i would g

I'm a big fan of Galciv II, But even with the fan patches it has some issues i find. Some AI issues/bugs, and at times personality seems lacking. I also feel at times, much of the threats feel like a bunch of hot air.. Like the drengin just having a couple planets, or even when thallan's own half of space they don't do much in the way of threaten anyone. Terrans are the ones that do have a bit of bark i find, as if they are on the map they are pretty much the
Oh one other thing about the aliens, as cool as they look in still shots, they are fully animated. They look just insane when on the view screen.
That is awesome! That is one thing i really enjoyed in Civilization V. the way the civ's are animated, and facial expressions and gestures change as does their attitude. I really hope, that you guys get creative on what aliens co

yes, exactly.. another thing that crossed my mind was cost.. Shouldn't it cost more to build a colony on an aqua world, all structures being underwater.. verse a normal world, that does not even need terra forming? but onto that side, what about unique buildings, and techs to improve the variety of planets.. Solar farms to improve barren worlds, Or air scrubers on toxic worlds.. ext. It just seemed to simple to

i was reading a interview about the devs focusing on the sandbox, but there will be a single player campaign. The game has potential to make a great tool for story telling. A deeper political game, and story flags could really go a long way to giving the players that want to create stories a huge step forward. One thing i found lacking in GCII, (at least the few campaign missions i played) Was your goal was, said at the start, (capture X planet) then that wa

I know they have mentioned things about improved art and such. But one thing that i think could be really improved in GCIII, is making planets more unique. Size, color, moons, asteroid belts, rings.. perhaps dual planets, orbiting each other, while orbiting the sun.. So much could be done beyond the look, to make planets unique. I have to wonder if they have thought about adding to this aspect of the game. Everything from Hot barren worlds, to cold icy

after pondering this for a while, i also came up with an idea about mining, and finding things to mine.. Survey ships, to find resources you should have to have these. Having to scout more, survey planets, and take time doing this should be part of it. Verse, ohh look an asteroid, let me mine it. Give a reason to be a more science based race..
Good to see the death of 32-Bit, and gamers with toasters. Finally!
what do you have against toasters? Toaster ovens are a vastly superior way to heat food.. (outside of taking a bit longer) faster does not always mean better :)
What if planets simply had two designations of class? Planet Dingo IV Class 14/8 Planet Dingo VIII Class 3/15 First number could represent the colony class side and the second could represent the mining class side. Would force players to carefully consider which direction to take a planet.
&n

I was just expanding on the idea of mining is all. I used Class 7, as a the upper limit to mining worlds basically as a balance reason. I was brainstorming about how you could do different things with a mining/resource mini game. How would the worlds be different. giving choices on what to mine, how to mine.. ect. I just picked 7, as that is about average between high pop, and low pop worlds.. As it is now, you see a class 10 or 15, or 20 and get excited right? dual

I can under stand that, but it just feels like even the aggressive races, do not take much advantage of a next door neighbor that has left themselves wide open for invasion early.. it just seems like powering to 5-10 planets, almost is always better, because the chances of being invaded in the first 52/104 weeks seems remote at best.. Maybe i just have not played enough GCII.. But it feels like as a very aggressive neighbor, why would i not at least make some ground invas

I would even go as far as saying, anything under Class 7 could become a mining planet. Randomize resources that can be mined.. (not every planet should be able to be mined, But i am saying a chance to be could be a really good thing. I would like to have to think.. hmm a class six that would make a really good money maker, or a small research planet.. But it also has a wonderful resource that could help in the long run for trade, or for produc

I wonder about diplomacy. I really am hoping they take that to the next level. It has me thinking about defensive pacts, and friendship, and un-claimed territory. Personally i always thought the colony expansion process should be slower. On smaller maps especially but even larger maps can get filled up rather fast, really before any decent fleets are built. It has me wondering if perhaps diplomacy can be part of the a

i like the idea of Carrier type vessels.. Especially if you could customize the ships it could hold. to me the idea of very fast, short range fighters, that could be stationed at space stations, planets, or on carriers.. (carriers you would use to move them around the galaxy.. they could work different than normal ships perhaps... they could swarm any hostile target, making the target hit with less accuracy. The ships could also cause damage

I would just love for them to make an official sticky post with ideas.. Not to discuss them persay, But post them.. Just a simple place where everyone's idea's can be posted, and easily read through. then of course use the forums to discuss the merits of them and such. But i always think simple threads for devs to read, with many ideas, in an easy to read format is always a good thing. Anyways, thanks for the links to the o

Id like to close off boarders, But that does not mean a ship could not enter. It just means you are crossing into my space, and i am declaring any ship that does so, an act of war.. you could set it so you get a flag, that says a ship is in your territory (if detected) and the option to start a war. This could lead to a deeper diplomatic game. your territory is closed, even if not going to war, a species colonizes some planets in your
