Intresting, but might be morre work then you expect. It would involve excluding every 'endgame' option, not just oponents = '0' and some events (like jagged aliance event in GC2) cant happen. what to do with 'minor' races etc etc.
So you need 20 '0''s instead of 1? Takes 10 minutes if
Sounds like you'd make the top of the Yor extermination list with that ideology. Seriously those if the where to attempt to have more diverse and complex ideologies I'd say yes. But frankly dont think it would fit into the simple good bad netural ideology system they have planed. Black hole in top left corner. Obviously this picture was just for show. But I feel stardock already told (showed) us black holes, among other things, will be in the game at some point.

I like depth, but having too many choices can actually turn off a player and it becomes hard to balance. I think for a lot of people it's either between making the right choice or no choice at all.

I guess the idea is the only reason why people are benevolent is so they can feel good about themselves.

Every reply in this thread is a walking misconception of ignorance. He's not saying stardock should do away with the humor, or 'charm' as he calls it. The point is you don't need evil squirrels and teddy bears to be funny.

I'm not buying that for a second.
Well why not? Have you designed one yourself?
It doesn't add anything? Yes, actually, it does. I just got done with a SotS2 game on a map with a center area and SIX spokes coming in at 90 degree an

To me that doesn't say they don't want thousands of ships. It says they don't want thousands of ships you have to micromanage individually. It is possible to have one without the other.
Kind of an interesting idea. If Stardock are looking for features to add, be it for the game or future expansions. I would say moons and Gaz giants would be a nice place to look at. I like complex games, but how complex is too complex? Endless space allows you to colonize gaz giants and use moons but it is also a simpler game than GalCiv in several regards.
What's complex here? The OP suggested, to

Games within the 4x genre provide a different niche. Multiple niche's, as do all genre's. SoTS 2 is tactical combat. Endless space is endless space. Blah blah blah I do not want a jack of all trades master of none type game. We all have our idea's of 'the perfect game', but it'll never happen. People are too ambitious for their own good.

I have a question about alpha. Are the forum badges going to be different from each other (founder's & founder's elite) once alpha rolls around, or will there be a bunch of people pretending to play it?
For the company it often means attracting new people (read: additional) to the franchise to which they can then build upon and create "better" in-depth (again, whatever) games in said franshises. During a heated forum hate discussion regarding Xcom one of the people on the creation team let fly that that was what was behind bits of it. That with the cash flow they can have more freedom to create, etc. Dunno if he was speaking the

"The term dumbing down describes the deliberate diminishment of the intellectual level of the content of schooling and education, of literature and cinema, and of news and culture." - wikipedia [e digicons]^_^[/e] Obviously, you already know that when a developer 'streamlines' a game, the hope is for more sales. Granted I haven't seen much evidence to support this statement. I

I couldn't say until I know how the initial population works. This could just be adding nothing to the game except more to micromanage.

I agree. But there needs to be times when you don't want to have a research agreement. Yes I mean beyond you getting a negative diplomatic modifier with an opposing faction. That's just a choice between A or B, and there's nothing you can do about it. Or I should say W or M. They are the same it's just one is upside down. More negatives then positives. You only hit yes when most of the negatives don't apply to you. Unfortunately this isn't all that

If you look at the quote regarding the tech tree, "Nobody can expect to completely fill-out a tech tree, and trying to be comprehensive will result in a mediocre civilization." tells me you don't get locked out of anything. A jack of all trades play style 'will result in a mediocre civilization." Whether this is between being able to choose diplomacy & war or diplomacy or war remains to be seen.

Per planet basis. I'm having a hard time seeing the purpose behind this. Maybe.. maybe we should also have the ability to devote a planet to one of the three 'professions' (wealth, research, or manufacturing) and have it be a viable way to play. As to how to make that happen.. let's saying manufacturing also gives the planet a defensive bonus against ground invasions or something. That secondary bonus should not be given instantly as to avoid exploits. Perhaps a changing of th
