I watched the Dev;s stream posted on their YouTube channel. It confirmed three sad points. 1. The change to how specialization work is something they always intended on doing and from the sounds of it some point of the campaign. 2. The Dev's have no interest in rebalancing the tech trees now that we are forced to only select on option. I believe their comment was along the lines of just trade for the other techs. 3. The Devs have no respect for our comments on the

This close to the release date there is only one realistic way for the Devs to rebalace the tech tree. That is to identify those best techs and nerf them. There is no realistic way for the Devs to put in the time to figure out how much the poor techs need to be increased to put them on pair with the good techs. There is simply not enough time for the Devs to adjust test and readjust the various techs. Which leaves us back where we started either with three broken tech choices or two b
I think the game is way better with the new specialization system! It makes the techs more interesting and gives you some actual choices.
The real issues is of each specialization tech we are presented with two rather poor choices and one that actually is a real game changing bonus. So our choices are pick the one that helps us win or choice the ones that put us at a disadvantage over the other players. St
The problem is as I pointed out in another post there really is not an even choice for these specializations. The three choices we are presented with for each of these techs are in no way equal. So for a human player we will most likely all ways pick the best option every time. Only the computer play may not. So other then giving us something to trade technologies for it only is a disappointment for players and a stumbling block if we accidentally select either of the lesser options.
Not happening. I am very very much against the idea of being able to pick all 3 specializations. They're supposed to be a CHOICE you're making at the exclusion of the others.
This is the real problem. Someone at Stardock was told to shorten the tech tree so forcing this choice was decided rather then actually evaluating the tech choices and deciding that things like all the starbase/support s
There needs to be a balance pass over the default ship designs. If you look at the base design of each type of ship you will find ships especially in the Medium size hulls doe not have engines by default. So even with the early movement bonus techs the ships can not keep up even with fighters let alone troop transports.
