What I like most in first released GC III Alpha build is that it is almost as polished as Elite: Dangerous Alpha 1.0 was. I was expecting runtime errors / BSODs when trying to start the client at worst, CTD-fest and non-working features that should have worked already at best. What I got? Download & install: success 1st try Start the Client: success 1st try CPU sweating its ass off: all cores utilized 60-80% with 3 oppo
Does anybody else have problems Accesing some of the Items in the Vault? I do get a link to a "octet stream" instead of the actual Files for some of the things in there (e.g. the 2nd latest File)
Just rename it to *whatever*.docx when saving, it is a .docx file without the extension (the at this time second newest file). Same applies to all others, just look at the list, check what extension the file should have
Neither Nvidia nor ATI/AMD, the DXdiag clearly says you're running Intel HD GPU, which is an integrated one, coming with the CPU. More specifically, Intel HD 3000 GPU. ( http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Core-i5-2450M-Notebook-Processor.65510.0.html ) You should check your vendor or ACER website first, if they have newer drivers for your laptop. If not, then you could try to find
Topic id100: Looks interesting. Pragmatic stuff seems a bit 'meh' at first glance though. Topic SY100: Worth testing & balancing as it is IMHO. Maybe add: unarmed ships in orbit cannot defend the planet.
Range should NOT be adjusted by map size. It should be scaled for a Small Map, then left fixed. One of the things that *should* be a challenge on larger/huge/etc. maps is that you MUST load up your ships with life support to enable them to cross the vast distances.
Definitely this. If there are 8 different Galaxy sizes in the game, the basic range settings should be optimised for tier 3 or 4, making range techs
One thing that I really loves about Master of Orion (the original) was that there were 6 different tech trees, even though they were pretty primitive. This, I think, is a much better simulation of a real galactic research-wide effort than being able to research only weapons for several weeks, then suddenly switch gears and research government, for example. And there was nothing like getting beaten down by another race when all of the sudden 3 techs you really need
Elite founder pack I hate being an early adopter and having to pay for content separately when later a "gold" edition comes out. Thanks for a new way of purchasing a game as an early adopter while not having to worry about future content!
Exactly!
So how many of you still play GC II (any edition) on a regular basis?
I do :) .
Yay, this is the second game that goes Alpha "soon" - gonna have to fork some cash for a new PC now...
