Good read. Check out the AAR forum (where this should have been posted) for many more reports. The more recent ones tend to be story-style, but if you don't like that there's plenty of more technical AARs farther back in the archives. It's not a very active forum now, sadly.
Ahh, I never heard the term AAR, so I never even read that forum before. I went there and checked out what it means and now

I'm new to GC2, but as I've been off work for a while recovering from a broken bone, I've been putting some heavy hours into exploring the game and learning the finer points of the subsystems to start to hone my empire management and work up the difficulty levels. My first few games were small/tiny maps with few opponents just to learn, but I recently finished my first large sized galaxy on normal difficulty playing as the Yor doing a warmongering game. I totally destroyed the opp

Thanks for the replies, Jim. Just to clarify this line:
2a) Place spy on a planet, but it exposes it to possible "death."
You mean that a spy who is placed on a structure on a planet is in position to have a chance of stealing tech. There is no other ('general') way to place a spy on a planet such that his prime purpose is to find and steal tech, right? If correct, the

Nah it was as kryo seemed to suggest. I was Terran, but there was no Trade tech in the tree. The tree was (I believe) different from the tree you get in a non-campaign game, presumably for the purpose of introductory levels. This would have been only the first or second mission in the campaign. I didn't continue with it and am now playing a 10-race large game on normal difficulty for the first time using non-terrans. I'm playing as the Yor and playing evil and warmongering for a chang

Sorry if this is a departure from forum etiquette (new to this group), but I have a number of newbie questions that I want to ask and am sure more will come and I'm no sure whether the forum denizens are more opposed to numerous threads covering small topics or larger threads which span numerous topics. The former is better for making data available to future generations and searchable, but it can also seem very noisy initially in terms of thread frequency. Anyway,

I understand there may be ways to disable the fog of war, but I wish to continue playing with it the way it is except that I am wondering if there's a configuration option that would allow me to tweak how opaque (visually) the fog effect is. I would like to make the fog more transparent so that the attractive background of the game shows through more, instead of just seeing a flat grey background. Is it possible to reduce it to a shading rather than an opaque color?

Hello, sirs. I'm brand new to GC2 (discovered it only yesterday, unfortunately), but as soon as I played the demo I knew I had been missing out on something that is quite possible the most well suited game for my tastes (love grand epic space strategy but _hate_ RTS). I've done a couple of tiny sample games just to get the feel of the interface etc and now am starting a campaign game (I purchased the ultimate edition, but I assume I'm starting at the beginni
