You look like both Ringwald AND Torme?? You must have men beating down your door if you're THAT good looking! I'm one of those people who doesn't look like anyone really, but still pretty average overall.... well, kinda goofy really more than average

It's amazing how well OTHER people are able to sum up the torrent of emotions going through my head. I'm keeping a copy of this on my PC from now on... you put it all so well!
I haven't seen any new articles posted at all today and the recent forum posts list doesn't seem to be updating properly... Is it dead here or are we getting some glitches?
Sheesh... that was an entire article on it's own...
I'm going to take up this discussion with a few examples of how most groups play a "do as I say, not as I do" game with issues of race, religion, sexuality and gender... These are all instances that I was either involved in or watched first-hand while I was in college: 1) Racism... Several years back, there was a massive demonstration in the Student Union building on campus to protest the administration's percieved failure to adhere to th
I would actually use #2 in class if I were you
City of Heroes is an excellent MMORPG... I've played and/or tested most of them out there and CoH provides the most bang for your buck. You're a superhero in a city filled with them fighting hordes of evil-doers. Think of Justice League multiplied about a thousand times and you get a feel for how many heroes there are running around Paragon City. While it may sound dumb to have a city full of superheroes running around, it works amazingly well. The
This was meant to be more of a commentary on the no-win situation most geeks find themselves in. You list places to meet other people are all fine and dandy, but it ignores the social issues most of us have. I myself actually don't have much trouble meeting new people or making friends when I feel like it, but I know I'm better off in this department than many others. I'm not personally worried about finding someone, it'll happen, just gotta be pati
Go to any online forum dedicated to the subject of love, dating or relationships and you'll undoubtedly run across a decent number of self described geeks lamenting the fact that they can't meet anyone, that they can't find a partner that matches them in terms of personality, intelligence or preferences. We all call ourselves “nice guys” and groan about “finishing la
I figured this would strike a note with some people here... especially those in the same situation as me right now. Little_whip - I got some crap from American Express Financial Advising services like that... they refused to tell me what the program was until I basically forced them into it by saying if they didn't tell me what the job was right then and there that I'd hang up. They were shocked when I turned it down saying "I spent 4 years i
Six months after graduating from college I'm still looking for a job. Combine the fact that I'm not a programmer by any means and I'm a new grad coming into a terrible IT job market, and it's little surprise that I'm still out there beating the bushes. I've had a few good leads, several interviews and follow-up interviews and I've come within inches of a really good
This is the sort of thing that would NEVER pass. It hasn't gotten any media attention yet because it's still being discussed in committees, once it nears time to vote on it, the shit will hit the fan. You have enough people who still remember how much everyone hated the draft that this would never fly since it's about 100 times more invasive. It would be too wildly unpopular to make it through.
Unfortunately with our situation, it's very hard to explain everything so it makes sense to ANYONE but the two of us. Essentially this has been a 10 year battle of helping her work through a lot of her phobias and mental blocks against letting herself get close to anyone (her mother was essentially mentally abusive up until the last year or two and that i
As evidenced by one of my previous articles about my most recent girlfirend (since hidden from public view), and the experiences I've had with my 3 girlfriends prior, I have the worst luck when it comes to picking healthy, sane women. My HS romances were short lived and awkward (as HS romances tend to be), my first girlfriend in college went kinda crazy after a few months and vanished into a world of drugs and drinking for a while, my next girlfriend was just sort of odd and soon after we start
Saint Ying, You are a perfect example of the type of liberal who gives the rest of us liberals a really bad name, you come off as condescending and a prick. You played right into one of the ugliest of the liberal stereotypes and as such help to destroy the credibility of the left, all most of these people here have to do when looking to refute a liberal standpoint now is point to you and go "Well, they're all just like HIM". Come off your hi
I think you're missing aegix's point here... how is gambling that money away any worse than any other luxury expense? It's just as frivolous as buying expensive clothes or shoes. If it is done in a legal manner, and not obsessively, then there's no harm being done to anyone. Plus, it is his money. To turn things around, lets say you have a think for buying expensive handbags and expensive shoes. It's just something you go out and do once e
Mug, Your advice so far seems spot-on, there's just one bit I think should be added, because this is afterall aimed at those of us who are more or less inept when it comes to dealing with women. -When approaching a woman, it's all about mindset. If you go in thinking how hot she is or how much you want to hit it off with her, you're screwed, because you're basically psyching yourself out, you're overanalyzing the whole deal before
PA went for Gore in the last election I believe... failing to pick Ridge as VP was what lost him the state.
Just a few quick bugs I've noticed: -The opening video issue everyone's been seeing, also on mine it seems to loop infinitely (or until I hit escape) -hitting escape to jump out of the movie randomly drops me to an option screen of some sort (game setup, game options etc...) -Alt-tab is still a bit flaky, 3 out of the 5 times I tried it crashed (I didn't have SmartException running so I don't have a log) One question: is there a w
I like the coffee table book idea, could be a lot of fun to try and compile all sorts of good stories for it
Most manufacturers I've used (Dell, Gateway, Apple) include the software on an applications CD... try and dig one of those up if you can.
Alright, first try and get the updates manually, this may fix the corrupted list, just go here and select your product and operating system combination: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/defs.download.html This will give you an exe file that should manually patch you up, this will hopefully get you going again. If that fails, go to Add/Remove programs in your control panels (Start -> Settings -> Control Panel) and sele
Ok, we've all see the Windows For Dummies books, the guides on how to use MS Word and Excel, and the technical among us scoff and roll our eyes at these books... but the average consumer gobbles these things up, the dummies books sell better than any technical programming manual, everyone it seems is buying these damn books. You'd think then that we'd have a more tec
While WineX goes a long way towards making gaming viable on Linux, it's not there yet. And having an ATI card makes things even harder. This is another example of how Linux fails the average end user. Linux is a great server platform, it's great for techie work, but for average everyday use, gaming, music, anything, it's a royal pain to work with. Rebooting is a necessary evil right now. You can't force an OS to do things it isn't yet mean
I'm really enjoying it so far. Played 1.5 games (second one crashed out of nowhere around the middle of the game). Both times I played dem and was able to beat Bush pretty solidly... I'm going to try on increasing difficulty to see how the AI changes tactics. On cakewalk and easy the AI ignored the large electoral states and as soon as I establised more than a 5% lead, he abandons the state completely... In neither game so far did it even try to fi
