Something like that would improve the game. When I think about starting GalCiv3 game I first remember interspecies politics, great fleets and grand strategy... And then I remember starbase management. And this "ask for constructor" button doesn't help cause it builds big fancy constructor with latest engines and life support when in 99% I want to get cheapest crap ship. It gets there 2 turns later but it'll take 2 turns fewer to build!

Can't imagine anything better than GalCiv2 system instead of planet wheel. Just select the focus for the planet, get bonus to it and debuffs to other aspects. Should help governors and AI too. It would even make sense if you can only unlock this focus later with research. Cause unlocking planetary wheel makes zero sense. You already have this wheel for the empire!++
I find it very strange this request is still not fulfilled. Seems like a very minor and easy to implement thing which prevents power-gamers from playing the game.
...So what's another game with 8/10 in AI? Anyway, we're all sane people and understand you won't spend thousands of workhours so that 100 people in the world could get their fight with AI on highest possible difficulty with minimal handicap. All I want is no easy exploits. Sane diplomacy and geopolitics. Good appraisal of situations. All this basis that makes AI adequate. What I really hate is a situation where AI handicap doesn't matter cause you can b
It all become better after I've turned off my antivirus. Makes me thing that the problem is not a specific bug but a performance problem on some systems in some specific narrow place. Probably loading of icons/models when you zoom out.
I don't care much about fancy cinematics in battles. I, however, would like to see this end battle statistics. Currently I have to click full battle, wait for battle screen to load, click ESC button. Can we cut off the middle man and have an option (maybe checkbox in pre-battle screen?) "Show battle statistics" after Quick battle?
> The most easily reproducible situation is when zooming in/out Indeed, the screenshot I've posted earlier captures the moment of changing to icons - you can see cause planet names are fading. > but the game is installed on a disk drive Perhaps it reads something from swap file? Still it's strange cause we all have 8+ Gb of RAM and I have 1.5+ of free Gb of RAM when it happens. I agree that the game is pl
Intel i7-3930k 32GB Ram nVidia 690GTX Samsung Evo Pro SSD
I understand this is stationary PC, no laptop, so you don't have integrated GPU. So my theory about it being a problem is not standing. Your GPU probably has 4096 MB (2048 MB per GPU) GDDR5 VRAM so it shouldn't be a problem too. You also have SSD so it's not HDD either. Strange.
Also here's how the game looks when it freezes - note the missing left side of the map. While it happens I can move mouse, Alt+Tab or take a screenshot so the system itself is OK. Here's screen of CPU and RAM usage taken a the same moment as previous screen . The freeze itself happens after last I/O spike. As far as I can tell it's at the moment of lower CPU usage and just before
Normal sized map. I don't see stutters when it's autosaving, but indeed it looks like there's some sort of HDD access problem, especially with laptops having slow HDD. It's always happens when I first load a game and zoom out (but it happens later too, when I scroll usually). I've measured system performance with Process Explorer at that time and it shows no spike in HDD usage. RAM usage is consistent too. Game eats 1.7 Gb RAM, physical memory usage is 6.6
While playing the game even on Normal map with 5 civs I often get freezes for several seconds. It usually happens when I scroll map and screen freezes so I can see empty space in place where I scroll too even though there are supposed to be planets or ships there. Then it goes away and the game continues as normal. AI turn calculations are fast, FPS are high, I just have this issue every several minutes. The sad thing is I've thought that original Elemental will bring me all kinds of fun and now I don't really wait Fallen Enchantress to give me any new expirience. But if it will I'll rape everyone's mind to buy this game.
I hope FE will be something complete and enjoyable. I'm trying to love WoM. I patch it to latest version, start game, have war declared of me, see enemy sovereign coming to my land with couple of weaklings. He's dead. He's passed on! This king is no more! He has ceased to be! He's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! He's a stiff! Bereft of life, he rests in peace! His metabolic processes are now history! He's off the twig! He's kicked the bucket,
I'm playing through the HoMM V campaigns with maxed graphics (I think, the options are a bit strange) on 1920x1080 and I don't see this fog you're talking about.
Camera set to Classic HoMM, zoom out. Hordes of the East 3.1. I see it everywhere except cities and combat.
I'll tell you a story about Heroes 5. A good game. It has a problem which I believe is not a problem at all, but it freaks me out. It always has fog in upper part of screen if you don't zoom. If you play on 16:9 screen 1/3 of screen is fogged. Very frustrating. So guys, be cautious. And add option to turn off fog altogether.
Instances? Tiers? You must be playing world of elementalcraft.
So you are not freaked out by DPS in turnbased game...
>Can anybody think of good examples from history or literature where a country is made up of a small number of very specialised cities? USA, USSR had many cities but they were specialized. And even if no, one of the best games I played in several years waas Puzzle Quest were battle is represented by moving diamonds in a table.
Why do you spend time on War of Magic still? Don't you want to make absolutely perfectest game with Fallen Enchantres? I'd rather wait for couple of month more and get OMG TEH BEST GAEM EVA then get slightly better War of Magic... Which I hadn't played since 1.1.
To be honest I've expected more from Elemental. Even with 1.1 patch I've played only two games. Not so challenging, not so engaging, I've completed master quest exploiting AI's tactical dumbness - felt like cheating. Other games were buggy too, but... So, list of strategies: God Tier - Victoria 2 & Europa Universalis 3: Divine Wind They were buggy and disbalanced but they've eaten and chewed me. Very very good. Nice tier - Company of Heroes (I'
noodshot, I think it works - I had this problem earlier (1.1 I think) and aftyer reinstalling game I had reasonable update size.
It's strange we can't adjust performance much. F.e. make people in cities and animation disappear, make all armies look like a single unit etc.
I could answer you if only I've found a way to get 1.09t. Impulse says that 1.09e is the last version.
So do we get update before Christmas?
Well, I just didn't like byuing lots of stuff while keeping in mind each hero epuipment. The system you're talking about would look better with some sort of skill/perk system like "hero gets 20% armor bonus when wields light armor" or "+0.5 to attack for each fire item equipped".
Easy way to lessen micromanagement on heroes: If a hero is significant enough (you've put some spells on him and his level is higher than other heroes) he can sometimes tell you "I see that my equipment is old and with mere 785 g I can buy [...], [...] and [...] that will give me +5 attack and +3 defence comparing to current equipment".
