I really like the sensor starbase idea, but it seems to require a planet nearby to create? This limits the usefulness I think. They are something I would want to place around the outside edges of my normal sensor ranges, and the default sensor upgrades do a good job of "lighting up" all the areas near planets/resources. My first thought was to make my relic bases into sensor bases, as they seemed like the perfect fit. I feel like the support field should only be for mining stations if

On the other hand, some games embrace modding during the early testing phases and even pull some ideas and mods into the core game as it develops, IE Starbound. Knowing what people are modding and why can be a powerful development aid, because often the mods are fixing issues or filling in content/gameplay gaps. Also seeing an actual example of why something would be better another way is a lot more convincing than people making 20 feedback threads talking about how they think it would be bet
You must have a 64-bit version of Windows Vista , Windows 7 or Windows 8 (most people these days do but not everyone).
I figured this would be the case, but AFAIK this is the first time you have mention Vista anywhere and caused me to hold back on buying the cheaper founder packs. Even now on Steam it only says 7 and 8 and Yarlen just excluded Vista in the minimum requirements they listed. It's very confusing.

Is this just a campaign faction? That story there really doesn't lend itself at all to a normal 4x game start. They have no planet or civilians, it's a war fleet popping out of a pocket dimension. It would be kind of strange if they then started a game with a planet, colony ship, and single unarmed (or armed) flagship, like everyone else.

The second type of 'radiation' Jupiter and other gas giants give off is in the form of their Van Allen belts, which in the case of Jupiter can kill a person within hours and is more of a navigational hazard than a potential resource. Gas giants are huge batteries of nearly unlimited energy, almost as powerful as a star. Speaking of which, we should also be able to do something with stars. Something none of these games really do (that I can think of) is properly address the growing power requirements an advanced space empire would require. We should be buildin
The problem i see a lot in doing some 'ad hoc' technical support is that people on Vista are by far almost worse than people on XP. Most people on Vista are inexplicably on SP1. Many refuse to upgrade to SP2 for some reason. At least XP users were on SP3 while they were whining about the end of support. While thre isn't any 'technical' reason you can't support Vista/Win7/Win8, I find the 'culture' Vista us
I doubt its that. Vista is out of mainstream support at Microsoft, is falling back to 4% on the Steam hardware survey, and is generally irrelevant. Most likely they just don't want to have the expense of supporting it.
That's the thing, there should be nothing to support. There is no fundamental difference between Vista and 7 that I'm aware of, in fact windows 7 is basically a minor UI update to Vista. Vista is wind

I was curious to why DX11 over DX10 would limit people to Windows 7+ when Vista supports DX11. I'm also still under the impression that whoever wrote that answer in the FAQ forgot about Vista or the fa

I hope the player colored glow we see in the first screenshots isn't changed. I really liked how that looked, and I'd hate to see it removed because somebody wanted to make the ships more shiny or whatever.
DX11 would more or less force users into Windows 7 or Window 8.
I don't understand what you mean by this. Vista supports DX11. XP only goes up to DX9. Either way, DX10 or DX11, Vista or higher is required.

I have Vista on my desktop and 7 on a laptop (I never use), I have zero interest in upgrading my desktop to 7. Doing so would just require me to once again go through everything and strip out all the useless crap I don't want. I'd still be using windows 3.1 if it was possible, I don't need my OS doing a lot of pointless stuff, I just want

Doesn't make sense that there would be any issues making it run on Vista if 64bit and Dx11 are the requirements, the (windows) OS itself shouldn't be important it's just the Dx11 and 64bit part that matter. I'm hoping it was an oversight on the FAQ, since it's so unpopular maybe whoever typed up the FAQ forgot about Vista or that it was Dx11 or had 64 bit versions.
