I read in a different thread that the reason the other races would have a delay to speak with the player again was to prevent tech brokering abuse in GC2. How about this solution which would allow the player to trade tech without abuse. - When a civilization develops a tech, they have the copyright on it. Only the civilization that developed it can offer it in a trade. This way, a player can still trade his tech for alien tech, but the tech he obtained
I've read this same complaint about colony trading. AI will - apparently, I've never tried it myself to be fair - merrily sell you it's 20 Level Planet for not too much compensation.
Before the current version, you could trade any colony for any other if you were willing to pay the AI 1 credit. I could trade a 20 level planet for Mars or Wisp and 1 credit for example. So I kept tr

I was playing a game where I believe I was Drengin. The Terrans decided to declare war on me. I had no military to speak of as I was building my civilization. I went to the diplomatic screen and purchased the entire Terran fleet. I then used it to conquer the Terran planets the ships were already in the neighborhood. They didn't have enough transport ships so I upgraded the colony ships I purchased to transports. The f

I did not save the game where the dead worlds in the game got my civilization's logo. I had assumed it was a feature not a bug. I have played a few games since.
The way I would handle these issues is 1) If you come into possession of an extreme world before your have the tech to colonize it you get a severe production penalty; -80% or -90%. 2) Improve AI (pretty sure this will happen anyway)
In the case of a culture flip, just because the planet locals decide to join your civilization does not mean that they somehow forget how to survive t

If Galactic Civ III is to have spies in this game like it did in the previous one I have some thoughts on this subject. There should be two kinds of spying. One is by gathering intel by decoding transmissions. This way, we could occasionally discover alien tech developed by races who don't bother upgrading their communications protocols. On example, is that the British let the Soviets to believe that Enigma was secure and the Soviets used it

Bugs: 1) I was in a war with the Krynn and got the message that I had won an influence victory. I selected, "keep playing". Then I got the pop-up message from the Krynn that they wanted peace. I clicked on "Nah I'm gonna.." and the game crashed afterward. Upon reloading the game, same circumstances the same thing happened. 2) When I view some pirates, they showed me the same logo as my civilization. Could you use a logo whic

When I click on "Upgrade Starbase" and I have a generic base I often don't know which starbase you are showing me. I have to get out of the menu to find out. It would be a nice feature to show me what is in the Starbase effect zone (show me also for the constructor). I have included this graphis to show you what I mean. If I had the middle box on the left, it would tell me if I want to construct a culture, economic, mining

Having tried Galactic Civ III and played Galactic Civ II, it seems to me that in a war situation shipyards make a civilization a whole lot more vulnerable than with a planet building ships. A warring civilization need only play wack-a-mole on shipyards being built by a civilization to prevent it from constructing any more ships. It does not appear possible to defend shipyards other then having a ralley point with ships programmed to attack visitors.

I purchase some "Cutter" type of ships, and upgrade them to a custom made constructor I made, basically a small ship body, a constructor module and engine. The upgrade menu does check if I have sufficient credits to upgrade to the constructor (graying it out if i don't) but it won't actually deduct from my credits when I do upgrade. Meaning this kind of upgrade is always free.

I had 2 colony ships in orbit around a Yor world, one purchased, one built with the purpose of loading up on colonists. The first ship took the 0.5 Million of population that the world had, leaving nothing for the second colony ship. When the second colony ship tried to launch, It asked me how many colonists I would load up and 0.5 was the minimum answer. I didn't have 0.5 million so I hit cancel. The cancel did nothing (it should abort the launch or

1: If I am not at war with a race, and wish to open a trade route and I do not own a star base which would extend my range to open a trade route, but there is a star base owned by that race which could extend my range, then that star base should extend my range so that I can trade with that race. The star base each race uses to help the trade route could help determine what profits each race makes from the trade route. For example, if the Drengin have 3 bases and the Altaria

I think that comic writers such as Sergion Aragones (creater of Groo) could be consulted to come with funny stories / dialogues for the game.

When I purchase a star base from a race in its space and I don't have a open borders treaty, it should not affect my relations with that race. A Star Base cannot be moved, and my purchase of the star base from its original owner is with their approval so it stands to reason that the star base would stay where it is. As it is now, the race that sold me its star base gets annoyed that it is within their borders. For one thing, the presence of that star ba

Hello, Using my Laptop/tablet & team viewer I tried to continue a game I had started on my other computer at home. My tablet has that square surface on the keyboard and two buttons to emulate a mouse it does not have a scroll wheel. I was unable to find an option to zoom in / out on the map without the scroll wheel. I suggest you add such as feature as not every computer user will have a mouse with scroll wheel. Some possibil
I disagree with OP for two main reasons: a ) it is important that shipyards not be star bases so they can remain mobile and can be built closer than 5 tiles away from starbases.
There is no reason for star bases to remain in a fixed point. They are in space and are just a big ship. Resources used to build up modules / ships could be used to move the bases. If you think of the

Galactic Civ has military star bases which offer increase offense / defense to one's military ships. I'd be weary of having an automated attack setup because I wouldn't want my ships to wander off the added bonus being in zone affected by my military star bases.

9 Replies 4,756 Views

For me it does not make sense to consider shipyards and star bases differently. I would consider a shipyard a star base with a shipyard module. It should be possible for a star base to have two or more main function for example Culture and mining, Military and mining, military and culture. Needs of a civilization in a sector of space change as the game goes on. It doesn't make sense to build a nearby star base just to have a

I'd also like to be able to have a "don't bother me until further notice" on a ship. I can always select the ship from my list of ships later on. There is too much clicking needed for ships. One example, if not at war I don't really need to tell my military ships to do anything. If there are no available worlds there is nothing for my colony ship to do. I may not neccesarely want to upgrade it right away to something usefu

I had a planet, which had a satisfation rate of about 45%. In order to bring up my satisfaction rate, I loaded up people in colony ship. Diminishing the population uncreased my satisfaction rate however even with a satisfaction rate of 100% my planet switched civilization (to the Altarians). ( Perhaps less population means less influence ?) Now my planet switched back at some point and when my planet switched back, it had Altarian ships in orbit which
