Creating Folder Portals in Fences Stardock Forums

Version 4.0.0.3 I have folder portals on my desktop, but I cannot create new ones. None of the three ways will work. I thought perhaps I needed a newer version, but it reports that it is up to date. I cannot download a current version to reinstall. Suggestions?

Fences 4.0.0.3 issues in Fences Stardock Forums

Dragging icons to a fence does not add them to the fence, but drops them to the desktop behind the fence. Double-clicking the desktop does not hide fences and icons. Can find no way to simply download and fresh install Fences 4 over existing installation, without paying an upgrade fee, or using beta. Check updates reports that the software is up to date.

This same problem popped up for me today in Windows 10. I put all the icons in a new folder on the desktop, renabled Fences, then moved them back to the desktop one by one. I found two icons that broke Fences, both were Google search shortcuts. Eliminated those, and all is well. Hope this helps.
