Same problem here mate! I created a logon screen using a large bmp file and that was the beginning of all the problems. I realized that logon studio was the culprit after I hit your post. :)) Solution: Just change the logon screen to those created with simple jpegs. The lost icons wont return but access to other control panels works. (I did a restart just in case; so dont know whether it will work without it)
