Thanks for the help! If it helps anyone else, the value below is the sweet spot for my Surface Pro 3. Basically you can't zoom in to see ships on the overlay but can still watch battles and do everything else. 3000.0

1 - My computer is turrible; that's the main issue, a Surface Pro 3 with i5 and 4 GB of RAM. Thankfully I can play however... 2 - My computer has problems once I start playing and zoomed in with the graphics. Overall I've played a gigantic map with over 60 races all fine so long as my computer is zoomed out to reduce the overhead on the graphics. So my question is if there's a way to keep the graphics in a low setting mode for the world or galactic map
Tis a sad day when my turribly designed ships must be scrapped. All hail hypnotoa... err thanks! That worked!
Or when you look at the game; some people might see Galactic Civilizations III and expect it to be an almost clone-like comparison of another Civilizations series. And it's typical for reviews. You might not see as many positive reviews as the people are playing it and enjoying the product, however if they have problems; they'll often vent their frustration with a negative review. Side note: any frustrations I have is with trying to play on a 4GB machine with Intel
Is anyone else having issues with the latest update suddenly breaking the ability to create new maps or start a new game on any map size (or any number of races)? The bad part is that this will load the previous game fine but any attempt to create a new game; whether it's huge with 14 races or tiny with only one opponent doesn't work. I even went as far as a total uninstall and the game won't load AT ALL when starting a new game. Is anyone else having similar

Somehow I don't think Galactic Civilizations 3 needs Space Zombie Nazis... I'm sure you can mod it in. Side note: seems interesting enough of a show... side side note... no side note for now... [e digicons]:fuzzy:[/e]
Overall I like the online distribution of games through steam. I moved from 2300 miles (for a job) with next to nothing I previously had. Luckily I still have access to a lot of the games due to steam (which I never really used) Yes you can play games in offline mode after downloading it. Even if you have dial-up you could eventually download the game and then be able to play it. While it's nice to have hard copies, overall I think it just ads to the clut
Ultimately it would be interesting to have tactical combat (as being smaller against larger opponents could really make certain games fun and prevent the giant army always wins scenario). That's my ten cents on it but I don't expect it in this game. If you do want "polygonal graphics to enhance your perception of reality" (hexs) and tactical combat; Predestination looks interesting. Overall I am supporting this game and while it would be interesting I'm sure
You SIR aren't a Founder! Now to act shallow and pedantic! I saw this and threw my money at them instantly.... now I'm poor... [e digicons]:erk:[/e] No worries if you're not a founder... your genius ideas can be help enough!
I have to say that the game has potential to be fun and great. The option of controller support really adds in greater control for combat... but ultimately this game needs the AI options from the previous X3 games... the ability to tell a trade ship to do stuff and so you can ignore it... or more options... I want to build stations and have options, that and I do feel a single ship limits your own gameplay, why can't I perform trades with a ship of mine? It's like they t

I can see pros and cons to this. Having an interesting element to the Empires could be interesting but the main concern is how it is done. If there were more every turn and it was the same as "choose a perk good vs neutral vs evil" every turn then no. Especially as the "choices" are repeatable then it could just be a layer of boring on top of the existing game. While on the same side having the options of some automation or possible things tha
Well clearly you need this game to have better resolutions than real life! (I just want a ton of races to all murder each other in a truly enormous galaxy). Overall the 64 bit sounds great, keep the options available for this game to scale across multiple memory sizes.
Having a greatly expanded chance or ability for these options would be great. I think Orbital Bombardments should be allowed (even if it can be not as powerful (as not all weapons have as much of an effect)). And there should be counters to this but having it could add the extra layer of complexity. Especially with the ability to Mine 0 quality planets (as mentioned in another thread.) You could easily offset the evil-ness of doing such an action by having your rel
I second your motion! I would love to see this as a feature in the new game... it could make it more interesting for civilizations... (against the idea of turning every low world to a colonized world). Maybe if they can have something like the space mining ships in Dead Space 1? Where it had an outpost but several parts come together to mine the planet... you could have it be a feature for the "Space Miner" but would also require another ship or som
But from the synopsis of what I've read, the Torians go out of their way to attack the Drengin and the Arceans were bombarbed back to the stone age but weren't completely wiped out, they have however lost their infrastructure... From the sound of it, I think the intention may be that they are going to use them as "minor" races but a great deal of focus won't be used on them as they are going to work other items or potentially other options... Should be interesting.
Sorry if my posts don't make full sense (after non-stop 13 hours shifts for 2 weeks) But basically a mini system for the Master of Orion 2 population. While having slaver ships would be nice having the idea of populations that we can invade would be nice. then the number of the defensive population can be a calculation based off of the planet's population and with new factors of the percentage of slaves versus other races. Then maybe if we could have the sl
What do people think about the possibility of having the civilizations being unique for each planet one takes over. So when the Drengin invade and enslave an Altarian or Human colony they'll actually have the Altarian/Human populations on those planets and can enslave them, assimilate them or kill them off... Kind of what Master of Orion 2 had but with the option to enslave parts of a population and relocate them to planets to be enslaved on so our "superior" race can thrive
I want to know if it's possible for the game since it's going to be 64-bit if it can have more than the 8 major and 8 minor race limit. Such as the options or possibilities for modding and increased number of races for a massive map with a massive amount of races all out to kill each other off. Just would be interesting to have as several mods I've played before it seemed to have great potential if could only have a few more races (Star Wars vs. Star Trek for example
A happy ending for the Torians... It will be interesting to have some of the previous major races be minor ones...
I like this idea, it's like the concept that was used in Romance of the Three Kingdoms. So if any one power becomes too great, the weak can join together to fight them off. And this is ENTIRELY different from Alliances. It would be a goal of all the weaker forces joining together to fight a strong or more overwhelming force. Thus it can also act like a balancer in the game to help prevent the super kingdom landslide, where if someone becomes powerful they just st
Better yet have there be consequences and different roles based off of who you choose. If you're human with a pro-open society... they may accept that Yor general to command your mightiest ships... but what if they didn't? What if the people hated the thought of that person being their leader. And while still on this topic, why not have factions become moralized/demoralized with the deaths of generals as well. Such as the iconic hero dying in
