In the current version of the ship designer you can stretch parts in every direction but you cannot enlarge or contract only one side of an object. For example: if you have a cylinder and want to make it into a cone, you can collapse one side of the cylinder until it is only one pixel in size and you would get a perfect cone. Can this feature be implemented in the designer, maybe under the "advanced" options? Or would it not work with the texture's current bahviour?
Last time on the dev stream Paul talked about the possibility of two "United Planets" on larger maps. This got me thinking about how "Elemental 2015" is supposedly implementing asymetric gameplay and if something similiar might be possible further down the road for "Gal Civ 3". My idea would be to introduce two or three ancient and very powerful races, ike the dread lords in an expansion. They would have highly advanced technologies but theit goal would not be to domina
The current shipparts are all pre designed ships which were broken down in smaler parts. That's why for example the Terran tiny hull is a whole fighter body. I am sure they will further diversify, with different cocpits, bodys, engines and fins, etc..
In one of the last dev streams Paul said that they would create many more parts, when they have finished designing all the races and campaign assets.
The problem with the Iridium especially is their mix of shiny, chrome like parts and flat , dull looking purple colored ones. I think it would look better if the they had all metall like, shiny textures. And i do agree that the current lighting makes all the ships look flat and made out of plastic. One other thing I found is, that the shipparts are all very flat. no recess, no small elevations. Just a Texture trying to emulate that look over a flat surface
Why not use the same system that Civ 5 has? Represent the range a ship can go in one turn with a circle, which grows smaler as the moves are used.
Well, if I could choose I would prefer different weapon models with different animations and different stats for each race. But that would be a lot of balancing and animation/modeling work. Combat is not even completely implemented yet, so I'm just throwing around ideas.
We will have some race spastic weapons, but we want them to be special, not just "Terran get this instead of this" that said the base weapons will still be available to all races.
Glad to hear that! Of course each race still needs access to the basic weapons, but could they be further diversified by special weapon augments? In the current build you can research that missiles take up less space. C
I think it would be nice if there were weapons unique to certain races. Paul said something about special support modules for ships and this got me thinking that there might be a place for race specific weapons. The other thing i noticed while designing my ships is, that every race currently uses the same weapon models. I know that it can be a lot of work to create new models for every race, but there are already unique shipparts for every race and weapon models in line
Will the buildings in the planet viewer be animated? For example some blinking lights or smoke trails, or some moving parts? This would go a long way to make planet view not as bland as it is now and maybe adress some criticism about GC3 beeing too cloose toGC2 in regards to the planet surfaces.
I agree that gameplay and visuals are important and a game should clearly represent its mechanics visually whenever possible. But in Sins you can zoom out very far and rotate the camera in every direction, where in contrast in LoL your camera is "locked" to a specific heights and angle, making it far easier to balance with the visuals. I do agree though that Sins is not the best example of good visual design and gameplay connection.
The guys over at Amplitude just released a nice spreadsheet, giving a good overview over what features and community suggestions they are thinking about, or working on implementing. http://forums.amplitude-studios.com/showthread.php?28728-G2G-Endless-Legend-s-List-of-Community-Feedback Would it be possible to get something similiar for Gal Civ3
I've got some questions regarding weapons and weapon models: Will the final game include race specific weapons? Are there different weapon models planned for each race? Currently it seems all races use the terran weapon models.
