Galaxies are not a sphere like a planet, there are edges to the galaxy. I'd rather just have it be open space with a soft border of nothing beyond than this suggestion, as it just doesn't make sense in a logical sense. Games based on planets this makes sense. In space it doesn't.
What if it is a Donut shaped universe? Mmmm....DONUT....

Carriers needing to rebuild their stock of tiny ships (taking time and resources to do so) is a good way to put the brakes on them. Keeps them powerful but limits their engagements.

This list is a good start. GalCiv3 went from "okay, let's rebuild Galciv2 but better and slowly reintegrate old features in new ways" to "Okay, this isn't quite working let's throw some stuff at the wall and see what sticks" with mixed results. Some of it great! Some of it...works but isn't that fun. And I am happy that insane maps will be tackled because it just doesn't work that well in GalCiv3. Which is understandable, because it takes a huge time sink to test macro-scale g

Cautiously optimistic. I really hope something is done about the AI declaring war on me from the other side of the friggin' galaxy when we can't reach each other. And have something done about the "ripe for conquest" tag. And don't give me that "Get Gud" bull. I like to play stupid huge maps against a lot of AI in any 4x game but as of right now the game isn't really designed for that style of play.

I just want to know one thing: will this fix the gameplay problems with the biggest 3 or 4 map sizes? Because I'm getting tired of thinking I'm doing good before finding 3 or 4 nearby factions only to find out I'm somehow "Ripe for Conquest" despite building ships and garrisons. Then I end up with factions nowhere near me declaring war for no reason because they can't get to me and vise versa. Use to be able to slow them down with pirates, until their generation got nerfed due to sys

I like playing on large maps. My favorite games on GalCiv2 were on the largest map settings - but GalCiv3 from the get-go seems extremely focused on smaller maps. I get it - insane-sized map scenarios are hard to test and very time consuming. Get rid of races on the other side of the map that can't get to you (or you to them) declaring war on you in the early game. I still have no idea how "Ripe for Conquest" condition works and every time I think I figure it out I'm

Some sort of bug that sets Zone of Control to zero or something. The game keeps failing file validation, so something is getting corrupted after the game boots up. Tried a clean reinstall after the first time I had to redo file validation and it did the same thing.

I think I narrowed down the problem. On a random idea I went and created different games with insane maps, starting with no pirates and ratcheting up to abundant. Turn lag slowly increases (to be expected) from unnoticeable to around 5-10 seconds on the first turn (lag drops down after first turn), until I selected Abundant. That is when it hangs at the end of the first turn.

I wonder if the bug I've been getting is the same bug - except mine happens at the end of Turn 1/start of Turn 2 (Starting New Turn message pops up in lower right). Game becomes completely unresponsive, have to use task manager to close it, and then the game fails validation and has to re-download something. Win 7, AMD FX 8320 8 core slightly OCed, 16 GB RAM, Radeon 7870 graphics card and an SSD. Started game with Insane map, 11 enemies, plenty of minor races and pirates. Just tri

Beta 6.1 crashes after loading the map when I attempt to click on a non-menu item (planet, ship, etc). Map generation size and settings don't appear to matter. Running: AMD FX 4170 4.2GHz 24 GB RAM Radeon 7870 Graphics Card Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview Installed on primary HDD (SSD) I do fully expect Beta operating systems to not be supported, and I suspect it is either a video driver issue or some other win10 up
