The 670 GTX is a rather new card. Its also a higher end performing one as compared to any TI series. Granted Nvidia is releasing the new 800 series, I do not think the issue would be hardware related. The issue manifests in game when you zoom out at a particular distance. You will get the horizontal lines. This occurred as soon as we updated to the new driver. Rolling back to an older driver such 337 and the problem disappears.

I absolutely LOVE this quote because its so true in any job where you have to go outside the office or lab... " Dealing with ISPs who seemingly don’t know how to run their own network. Hoping you have enough hardware to support launch day. It’s a labor- and resource-intensive job which sucks budget away from the game itself.”

[quote who="perigrine23" reply="10" id="3484490"] Voice acting can be effective in 4x if it is very limited IMO. The Nimoy stuff in Civ is sort of the perfect example: great voice acting, good quotes, and you only hear any given line once in a game. The problem with doing things like a greeting when you talk to a leader or a battle cry on attack, is that these actions occur repeatedly in a game and often in a short span of time. Even the best voice acting quickly becomes grating when the
Why would it be limited to architecture if a rollback to a previous driver works?
The voice overs from Leonard Nimoy for Civ IV was FLIPPING AWESOME SAUCE. Get Spock here for voice overs and I will personally sell this game to 100 of my friends.
I know its probably going to be a year away, however after seeing the new shiny, I find myself looking forward to it (the combat viewer). I know in another post there was a comment about how the graphic in this game are poor and will not stand the test of time. I challenge that assumption. Gal Civ II is YEARS old and it still has some of the best ship graphics on the market as compared to games in the same genre. Does the game engine make use of DX11 features?
Yes, I have seen this as well. I have had games where I salvaged 4 scouts and when set on auto, they all converge on the same point in the same area. I am sure this is simple to fix or maybe not. Seems if X is going to sect 3561, then prior to Y moving it checks things and if true moves to another sector. Shows you what an awesome game coder I am...(NOT)
I rolled back to 337.88 and the issue of horizontal lines has disappeared. I run on a 27" Asus at 1980 x 1250. I have a Geforce 670 GTX.
Satoru1, just to update a bit. I do feel this is a driver issue. I rolled back to 337.88 and the issue has disappeared. I believe if it was hardware related the issue would persist regardless of driver used. I could be wrong and Stardock/Nvidia would know better than me.
You are correct. I keep thinking that it did in fact 'veer' out to get anomalies if it was out of its range but perhaps not. I do like how it is now though.
Voice acting has a place in MMO's, for example Star Wars the Old Republic did it best. I currently play that as my primary game. Voice acting on that game is superb. I think some voice in Gal Civ III would be fine. The robot on tech would be great and the 'breaking news' updates on stuff would also be a nice touch. However Voice overs cost LOTS of money and take up LOTS of room on your disk. I would much rather have it as a
Its working as intended. Trying to manually set its course will not allow you to get that relic, however when allowed to do it on automation it will 'veer' off its path home to get the goodie! This was the same behavior in GC 2 as well. You can click on the ship and click onto a region in your homespace and the ship will follow that path to the exclusion of all else. Personally I just would automate it and let it do its survey thing.&nb
This is a known issue. I have submitted the entire information even through the Stardock Information tool they have you down load, run and submit back to them. Nvidia released a new WHQL driver last week. That is the cause of the horizontal lines, as previous drivers do not do this.
I build my own rigs. I have an EVGA Geforce 670 GTX with the latest drivers WHQL and will often use Beta drivers.
Ill roll back to 337.88 tonight. Also it is a certified driver, so I am wondering if they (Stardock) will account for it.
Greetings! So I know to roll back the video driver to avoid the annoying horizontal lines that crop up with the new driver. My question is really about the end of our Alpha. Will we see any update prior to the release of the beta we have seen on the streams, and if not will the nvidia horizontal lines bug be fixed upon the release of beta? Anyway, I am eagerly looking forward to the next phase in the development of our game!
I can confirm this is valid. I keep my drivers updated to play other games. Please update the Alpha so we can get this resolved.
Darca, I am certain I read that they cannot mate and produce offspring.
I am just wondering if we are going to see another Stream this week?
Actually this Topic is about Hexes vrs Squares. After the last stream, Paul stated he did not like 'cutting' corners', which why we have the zig zag path of our ships on a strait line. When asked if that can be 'fixed' he stated that it would involve cutting corners across paths and it was not something he wanted to do. This goes back to Squares being superior in this case. Now in Old Gal Civ II i would send my ship
The auto formation of fleets is ok, however I would like it to be optional which I do believe it was in Gal Civ Ultimate. Fixing this would likely be under the Polish part of game release Beta.
The augment is a ship part you add to your ships. You need the base weapon to use it. It is not an upgrade but 'improves' the weapon. My argument is the amount of increase (none) is not worth the effort of directing resources to build a starbase to harvest the durantium. If the augment did 20% increase over the base weapon then it would be worth it. The issue is if I got base weapons and YOU have base armor i will not touch you. If I augment than I can keep on going down the mass driv
There is a limit on performance on rendering so many ships. Granted there should be no limit, however for practical purposes on hardware limitations I would think there needs to be a cap on how many ships you can put into a fleet. This is represented through the 'logistics' technology. Each tier of logistics unlocks a greater value. Ships are assigned a value based on size. Say a small ship is a value of 2 and tiny are 1. You start the game able to suppor
Darca, look in the tech tree, under each weapon is an 'augment' For Durantium we will find its use under Mass Drivers. The first augment, I believe will increase range or rate of fire by (.5), but reduce damage by 15%. Remove the penalty. The 'Age of war' mass driver is just fine without it. The Augment at this point of Alpha does not justify its use.
