The game was designed with specializing planets from the start. You can still create planets that do 'everything' but you get better results by specializing them. Many folks here love that aspect of the game. I will find that Veiled planet (50% research, 25% economy) and just pile it up iwth a few farms and labs and ONE factory. It becomes my research base for the empire. One or two specialized research and production planets and the rest for cash and off you

Bellack, it was always going to be that way from the beginning. There was no tactical combat or even any mention of giving orders. However in an expansion after release we will get ship captains that we can give orders to on fleet behavior. Rand, your ship designs are not lost. They are in a folder inside the game file folders and just need to be renamed. There is a thread here on the forums on how to re-enable them

Its a trade off that is built into the game. You want more hexes, terra-form them. Other solutions include putting up a few starbases with approval/entertainment modules on them so you are not taking up hexes dirtside.

This was how it was in GC II and it was a hard mechanic that penalized RAPID colonization. Personally I would like you to keep it as it is and make it even a bit more hard, but...and its a big but..ONLY if the same rules that limit me the (human player) also apply to the AI. And... you all code the AI to deal with it and have it (the AI) fire up diplomacy screen to make trades for cash or sue for peace (if going into red for warmongering).

Thanks for the heads up. Its always nice to hear what and why things are delayed and a response from the developers like this goes (for me) a long way towards credibility. Even if you stated things are terrible and the release date was another 6 more months I would not be worried. I know that in the end the product will arrive at the high quality we have all come to expect from Stardock.

I like the idea that Tourism will affect diplomacy directly and for a positive. Tourism should also give returns of happiness via wealth but segregated so we can see a value in both income and happines/production.

Excellent breakdown Darca. I pretty much agree with everything you stated. Giving the Krynn 2 starter planets feels a wee bit over powered though. Have you tried following the Path>? It is really overpowered, I mean really overpowered. Paul needs to set its 2nd upgrade a bit further back in the tech tree or increase its cost. The +3 and +4 to EVERYTHING around it is crazy good.

So can we get hint..a scrap...a slice of the view this Friday..Pretty Please? Also can get a bit more info on what we can see change wise in our new Beta coming up? Paul mentioned that the entire 'Production/happy/Income thing was being changed. I would like more information or data. Gilmoy cannot get me correct values if the entire premise of how our people are happy is going to change later this month..... Cheers and h
