The most important thing to remember is intelligence is key to an effective early game. Experienced players have a colonization plan set up usually by the time they colonize their first planet. The way to do this is to build enough scouts to determine the following information: 1.) How far away is the enemy? If the enemy is right on top of you (2-3 jumps), you will need a different plan than if the enemy is 6-8 jumps away. 2.) Where are the strategic ho

A nice basic guide, definatly something for new players to read through and help them with their game. Nice work! One thing I would add is the other ability of the Kostura Cannon. While the damage it deals is useful, her other ability is what I find even more deadly to an opponent. When the cannon impacts, it generates a phase node at that planet. If your fleet is currently sitting at a phase node, and the cannon impacts, your entire Vasari Armada will be right

The TEC are a fairly straight-forward race to start out as. Their strengths lie in their durable ships and strong economic advantages, especially in trade and planet development. You will not get the "flashy" nifty synergizing ships like the Advent, or the "doom armada" as I like to call it with the Vasari, but with the TEC you will find simpler solutions to problems, building a lot of ships and overwhelming them. The TEC build order should also depend on what size of map

You just dont get the missile barrage up fast enough, plus the Marza has forward facing weaponry, making it best at assaulting single targets. The second cap ship I go for is the Dunov. Having a tough ship that can remove enemy antimatter and restore shields helps the TEC live l

Usually the small maps you won't get that many ships, usually 3-4 capitol ships will be sufficient. That all depends on how quickly you attack. With the TEC, finding the right balance to offensive and defensive warfare is key. I stopped playing small maps after I moved from the medium to the hard AI.

I've been playing for a while, and find the TEC to be my favorite race to play as. Granted I have never played online, though have played quite a few LAN games with friends. With that, here is what I have found to be a balanced and effective fleet: Early game my first capitol ship is always the Kol Battleship. I prefer to have a very powerful ship early on, which makes a big difference. Then I build about 10 cobalts to accompany it. The early game is norm
