No, like stated earlier just moving your pointer over a Black Hole causes the game to sputter and stick. Not being able to effectively use auto save without the worry of crashes or 8 minute+ lags isnt "working as intended" Also I have used Large Galaxies and its happening. My rig is an i5 6600k @ 3.5 GHz, 4 cores,32 gigs of ram and a Gforce GTX 1070. This set up should have NO problems running Large Galaxies. The problem remains with my Lap top which is a Preda

If you want save or load a game more times, you need to do as follow: 1. Save the game. 2. Exit
The game has been unplayable even on the smallest map sandbox's. After so many turns the save time is insane til it crashes and saved games when loading back up crash. I have a pretty decent gaming rig and its just unplayable. I am really sad as I love the game but until I see a fix posted I just cant bring myself to invest the time in playing it let alone buying new DLC's. Please post a fix when you can.
I am having the same issues. The game is unplayable after 100 turns or so. I notice that when I move my cursor over a Black Hole it makes the whole game sputter to a halt to slowly return to play. Perhaps a 6 to 8 second sputter. I also noted another possible interact that seems to be angering the program. Lets say you complete your turn and the "Turn" button pops up.
