It's nice that with 1.2 we finally got the German translations that were promised a long time ago. I wonder why this was not even in the patch notes? But the way the translated files are stored in the file structure must surely be a bug? English text files are stored in \data\English\Text So I did expect to find the German files in \data\German\Text Is that the case? No, absolutely not! They end up in \data\English\Te
I am aware that the Asterit Crystals mod has been broken by the 1.2 update. I have already identified the problem - the way moons are handled has been changed - and will work on a fix next weekend.
I have requested at Nexus to get a Galactic Civilizations 3 category and they have now added it. I have also suggested a category for factions, but they added my faction mod under the miscellaneous category. When you upload a mod, you can request a new category I think.
As requested by some users, I have updated and enhanced the Asterit Crystal faction, one of the finalists in the faction design contest . I have requested Nexusmods to add a caetgory for GalCiv 3 and you can now download the Asterit Crystals there . Asterit Crys
In the ship designer, in options, you can chose to show all parts. But still, the default parts set is determined by this entry that you bolded.
For my custom race that will steal ships and crew from other races I have used many different styles. I have used All as "All" is also an allowed value. This will start the game wi
Good work. Tbh, they should remove the label column from the xml. It serves no obvious purpose.
It does have a purpose if you think about translations. English is not going to be the only language supported. So all strings need a unique label in the way the current XML files are structured. And yes, also starnames should be translatable (not sure if they will be translated by Stardock, but at least it should be
You need to extend 3 files: ColorDefs.XML, FactionMapColorDefs.xml, UIColorDef.xml In ColorDefs.xml you can define new colours with their RGB values This example will give you a really blue map and UI:
BluesRaceBlue 0 <G
I have noticed 2 bugs with the tutorial 1) Victory objective "Colonize Precipice" cannot be completed I have tried several times in the tutorial to complete the optional victory objective "Colonize Precipice" Although Precipice I is colonized, the victory objective stays without a checkmark until the end of the game. The victory condition has "Preci
Hey, thanks for picking me as one of the finalists! Never thought that anyone would be interested in a species of sentient crystals [e digicons]:D[/e] Glad I didn't submit any of my other more conventional species.
Glad you found the issue. This has been a bug with mods in other games in the past as well. For example Civ IV could not properly handle blanks or non ASCII characters in user names when loading mods.
I note when you modded the StarSystemDefs.xml you used the "FactionStart2" as the group internal name so it seems we can do this to add custom start star systems? Does it appear in the list when you create another custom race in the game?
No, unfortunately only the stars with internal name FactionStart will show up as home star system for custom races. The only way I found is to copy the complete StarSys
Großartige Hilfe bisher ! Wirklich sehr gut! Nurnoch ein Problem hab ich bisher: Was bedeutet dieser Satz hier ? I wrote a guide how to create a new race, including own star system, colours, technologies and ship components. Each chapter also mentions which files you need to copy and modify. It's work in progress and will be extended whenever I find the time to work on it. However it is written in German, so I do not know how much this will help you.</p
Did you create the complete folder structure in your mod? Even if you only use the .\game folder for your initial mod, the other folders are needed, even when they are empty. At least that's what is given as advice in the ModdingReadme.txt: When creating new mods follow the file structure demonstrated in the ExampleMod directory. The game will read the directories here in the same way it reads them in the install directory. Each

Is there an overview of the available debug commands like “soak” and “fow”? They helped me a lot in making my custom races competitive when played by AI.
Yes! Thank you, @Ronnar!
You are welcome. Is your new race working in game? My race only works as an opponent, not if I want to play it. Could you please make your files available so that I can compare what stupid mistakes I have made? I think I found my stupid mistake - a ty

Beta 4 Patch 1: The FlavorText.XML is stored in the \data\Game subfolder. However, this file contains many text strings that are language specific and as such should be stored in folder \data\English\Text so that translations can be added later on.
The monsters are now so domesticated that they are NO fun anymore. I got the spell that creates a rift that spawns monsters. Pretty cool I thought. I tested on my neighbour. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8523102/FallenEnchantress_1346484959.jpg The fun is pretty much gone when I watch the carnage not unfolding. The monsters do NOTHING http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8523102/FallenEnchantress_1346501
If you enter a goody hut in the first turn of a new game like Lost Library that gives bonus research points as reward, the reward is lost if you have not yet chosen a technology to research.
