The reason I want to do this is the properties and mouse over text have more useful information than what shortcuts have. When I try to change the text on the desktop an error noise indicates I can't access the text field. I tried checking the registry for the recycle bin and it's all fine there. The ALT+255 and ALT+1060 don't work on the recycle bin and even if they did I should be able to change the name on the desktop. How do I get the text back and does anyone know what I did? All I remember is that I could only do this to one icon but all of the icons were eligible. Windows XP
