I could give a long post about factions to try as a beginner but I find the Torians to be quite OP since they have the Super-Breeder ability which helps population(and thus social/ship/researxh production) grow very fast. They also have a very OP improvement the healing waters which provides morale boost and had a adjacency bonus in every category essentii eliminating all negative side effects to building it. As others have stated the colony rush is quite important. Run

Recent Playthrough: Since I have a sunken a disturbing amount of hours into this game I thought would share a bit about my most recent playthrough with some observations, questions to the forum. This game demands my brain power in an obsessive way, both good and bad. After sinking in twenty hours into this game, I didn’t regret enjoying my time with a wonderful game but I did wonder if it was worth

Thanks for an amazing immersive game. I remember picking up galciv2 on clearance in gamestop many years ago only to realize after I got home how much DLC had been released for it. What a journey! Thank you.

Playing a game right now where a neighboring race has nabbed a nice barren world planet in the corner of the map just outside of my zone of influence. I'm at war with them and this planet is ripe for the taking but there's a problem, I don't have barren world colonization and I've disabled tech trading. If I invade the planet with a transport will I at least take it away from them and it becomes neutral? At this point I could hire the mercenary which allows me to colonize one extreme

Thanks for the detailed reply! I have usually subscribed to the doctrine that the best offense is a good defense and didn't invest in defenses much or at all. Those are interesting tips, and I now have a better understanding of fleet vs ship defenses. I think in some circumstances if an enemy who has declared war on me has a specialization in one type of weaponry I will invest in shields as a life-line to keep me afloat but usually the AI doesn't hyperspecia

How do fleet defenses work? According to one of the pages on the site the first enemy attack damages the shield instead of the hull is this true? Then all subsequent hits continue to damage shields until they are depleted then hulls take damage on the following attacks. Am I understanding that right? Also do you usually invest in these techs? What's your strategy for building them into ships/fleets?

Notice that the total income is 0 despite having 47 GDP 5 trade route income and 3 tourism. Any help would be appreciated, I'm in the center of the galaxy with 8 opponents, only have 1 colony and need any edge I can get [e digicons][/e]

Hi All, In an early game about turn 20 with 2 colonies Earth and Mars. Earth has two farms and produces four food. Total food consumption of both planets is 3 food so my stockpile shows 1 food. My question is, is this number at the top a stockpile because it doesn't change from 1. I was hoping it would increase every turn and I could build a city but it appears I'm missing something about how food works. Thanks in advance for your respons

I've turned off tech trading in my game. Some people Are easy to trade with( they like me) others are very hard to trade with. I found that generally the tech confuses the AI and they make trades that involve many techs and it's is something I rarely want to do. Maybe I value tech too much and haven't been desperate for cash/resources ships. I usually reject all tech related trades so that's why I turned mine off. Glad that's a feature they enabled.

Anybody noticing this issue or am I just an oddity here? Would really, like to figure out how to turn it off. I'll try a new game starting with it enabled to see if that has different behavior.

Hello, I'm running the released version 4.0 and am noticing that mid-game turning off auto-upgrade does not do anything. Its very frustrating. Also to double the pain, I'm playing as the Yor so resource management is critical. Save game: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1nTGpO-hbv1_3I-WXRKDas4432_WFiRsW Thanks for the help!

I have also noticed some strange behavior of the AI in my game as well. Although I'm not at at war my neighbor the Thalans have a fleet with 2 half loaded teansports outside my undefended planets. We are very close in power at the moment so I'm surprised they aren't seizing the opportunity. I think it's because I recently conquered the planets from the Iridium corporation which they were also at war with. So my guess in my case is that ships had orders to conquer but now since the planet chan

Playing as the Yor I noticed that the strategic command center was giving plus 3 ship production to a research collective. Should be easy enough to reproduce. Also the stellar monarchy produces two diplomats which is great for races that need approval but it doesn't do anything for the Yor. Not saying it needs rebalancing but there really is no need for a celebrity option for the Yor.

Hi All, A few more qurestions. Are the Yor out of the U.P. by default? In my game it says days till next meeting: "Blank" So wondering if that's a glitch? Also what tech do i need to build freighters? medium hulls? I can't seem to figure it out.

Yes, the event is a minor thing and I can overlook. What is very frustrating is that there is nothing that tells you about how to build population. Although now at about turn 26 or 27 it seemed to randomly appear as an option to build. If there is a delay at least kindly let the user know when they are selecting the Yor. Thanks for listening to my rant, just trying to sharpen an already excellent game.

Hi All, Running v4.0 as Yor. For starters when you are selecting your race it would be nice to clue the user in as to how the Yor produce population because that is unclear. We also see helpful advice for the silicon lifeforms. Now onto the real problem, what in the heck do I need to research to build population? And a second question do I build population like a normal infrastructure improvement? Now to a coupl
