Tell them to return it and get DoW2.
Yes, that's a gracious response to a gift... I like DOW a lot. I only play SP, which isn't a great way to find out how balanced the factions are. But I've had the best luck with the space/chaos marines (they are similar, not identical), and the worst luck with the imperial guard. I've only really experimented with the five from the original/winter assault packa

I agree that TES III:Morrowind has amazingly good cities. Vivec was incredible. The major cities in WoW are well done visually, especially Ironforge. They needed houses though. Those will be tough acts to follow within the context of a TBS, I think. One key in Elemental for me will be having big cities be much, much bigger than small cities - as opposed to just bigger numbers on the screen. No TBS I've played has ever really captured the difference very we

This should be "opt-in" not "opt-out". Also let the user specify interests. I wouldn't bother with IconPackager if you paid ME the purchase price, but I am interested in knowing when games are on sale.
I think a good question would be, "Would you defend all your frontline worlds if you knew the AI wasn't going to have raiding Siege?" It is kind of funny how some complaints are because Siege cripples the AI, while other comlaints are what a pain it is to run around trying to defend your planets from all the siege frigs! While siege is easy to counter, four or five of them can level a non-upgraded world pretty fast

People on the forums talk about ships being "anti-light" or "anti-medium". The manual tells you which ships have which armor types and weapon types (auto-cannons, laser pulse, etc) , but where are do you find out which ships are anti-whatever? I can't find this anywhere in the game. Thanks.

Yeah, maybe you could have the same bonus not stack at all - either a city has a "love charm" bonus or it doesn't. One can only do so much "loving", after all. Or you could just have it stack up to X times, or diminishing returns. Obviously it would have to be carefully balanced - but every aspect of a game needs careful balance if you want it to stay interesting and replayable for any period of time. That's no reason not to implement things. Even if it got cut

I'm not sure what you mean by bean counting. I think the cost/benefit analysis would be no different than that concerning which buildings to build. And I had meant more having them be less effective militarily instead of having higher maintenance costs. But it would be fine if this was just for heroes. In too many games your heroes can't do anything but fight.

I think it would make the game interesting if you could have military units that also had economic or magical benefits for the city they were stationed in, and have a tradeoff between economic benefits and military benefits. For example: In the "accessory" slot you could give a unit any one of the following: Ring of Might = +Attack Ring of Valor = +HP Banner of the Sovereign = bonus prestige for any city the unit ends its turn in Amulet of Power =

I thought it was interesting. There was a lot more truth to it than I thought there would be. Although, if I understand, the only people who ever saw that policy were the car dealers, so IMHO Beck was being a little dishonest when he warned people not to go to cars.gov. But somebody in the gov. really screwed up that anybody ever saw, much less agreed to, that joke of a "privacy policy". Threads like this, to me, demonstrate one disturbing truth: An alarmingly high p

As a number of comments after the article pointed out, why give the game to early adopters for $25 when they are perfectly willing to pay $50, and you can always lower the price later? I think Valve did it right - both with the original pricing, and the aggressive sales. SD should sell Demigod for $10 some weekend, maybe coinciding with the release of additional content.
