Yeah asteroid exploitation is a planned feature, just not ingame yet.

I think the initial circular 'improvement' technologies really slow down the early game and research, it would probably be better if they were removed or merged into the next research items.
A slider to determine initial load-out would be nice, and have it pull from all sponsoring planets proportional to each planet's pop : sum of all those planet's population. Although you would be able to abuse this by setting really far away sponsors, so the colony ship doesn't have to travel.
Planets 'Approval' rating isn't being applied until the next turn, which is making it really difficult to see the effects. I'm thinking it's supposed to update in real-time and apply to the same turn, not to the following turn. IE if I bottom out my approval to 0, I see no change in production or growth that turn, but during the NEXT turn the results of 0 approval appear.
