Quoting Frogboy, reply 12Guys, Let's focus the blame where it belongs and that is on ONE person: ME. I could list out the sins right here: I violated my long-standing tradition of monitoring the forums and playing the game and instead focused on working on the game directly. If I had spent more time on the forums instead of the compiler, I'd have been convinced of having a public Beta 5 and then like

What do you guys think of making high quality casual games? They may not be grand-scale epic strategy, but games like Plants vs. Zombies and Bejeweled are fun and don't cost nearly as much to make. They can supplement Stardock's revenue and help you guys get that second games team back one day.

This means the game's serial number, your hardware and OS specs, descriptions of the problems and how to reproduce, a .zip containing all the logs produced by the SDSupportTool.exe, and maybe a few of the .zip files found in C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental - War of Magic that follow this format: Elemental1_06-2010

When we put something out, and it gets a 50% dissatisfaction rate on our own forums, that's a HUGE chunk of our customers that feel it wasn't ready to be put out. There's a lot to learn from the release of Elemental, and 'let's make ev
Those with the loudest voices against its "condition at release" were those who pirated the game and couldn't get the release patch. They got a buggy prerelease version and were upset about it.
That is probably one of the most asinine and offensive comments I have read on these forums. Oh and it's even factually incorrect, the patches were available within 24 hours of their official release by the pirate group called "Skidrow". So no, the pirates are not the one

Only an idiot or asshole would consider that lucky, take your pick. Go out onto Metacritic and look at the types of games that get a 60 metacritic average. MOO 3, a total POS game got in the 60s. Elemental has its flaws but it's a masterpiece compared to MOO3 when it launched. And onl

IGN just issued a statement: http://pc.ign.com/articles/111/1117649p1.html
The short answer is that it's coming. The long answer is that due to a series of scheduling conflicts with me, the reviewer, as well as issues with the game, enough time hasn't been spent with the game to properly evaluate it…yet. At this point I'm really enjoying the game – except, that is, when it doesn't work or c
I am speaking for the majority. Because the majority bought a game, which according to Stardock themselves should have been better than it is. You can't back up your stance just like I can't back up my stance. There is no way to know where the percentages lie. EDIT: Yes, NWN and Civ "shined like diamonds" because of mods, but they didn't stink like a turd like Elemental does upon release. Opinion.[
Quoting fatindian, reply 148 BOTH Neverwinter Nights and Civilization 4 did not have a release like Elemental's. Civ 4 was very fun on release and NWN had a perfectly decent campaign. Neither of them had major gameplay and playability issues. Yes, we get it, Elemental is very moddable, but we (most of us anyway) didn't pay for mod tools. Who is this "most of" you speak of. Are you now sp

The typical gamer wants a playable game out of the box. Not one that takes mod to be fun. If the game is fun and mod extends that fun .. great! But, if you need mod to make the game fun .. Mod'ing will not have a large impact. This is not most games. This game was built with a prim
