the program is still using more ports then I configured in ImpulseReactorOptions.exe only workaround for now, is for me to open ALL ports to my internal IP. Please fix that, and everything would be fine. Opening ALL ports should normally not be necessary.... [05-22-2009 11:34:57 156] Connected to facilitator at 209.124.63.249:6004. what would be a possible action, other than kicking the player that lags due to less upload bandwidth? Most user (me too) can't get more upload speeds :(
i was testing connecting to custom games (again) and i finally could get into the lobby, without setting my router to "DSL modem-modem". Changing to open ALL Ports to my PCs IP and disabling the router firewall did it. (I still can't play, because I couldn't connect to everyone) http://img3.imagebanana.com/img/bgf72b83/demigod_NAT_config.JPG What i figured out: Demigod uses indeed more ports t
Yeah getting games going is kinda annoying atm. This is (mostly) due to idiots (sorry) not opening port 6073 + 6100-6200 (i know, 20 port range). You should do that. Then play custom games.
and if opening ports doesn't work? Thought about that huh?
While testing my connection with some custom games, I stumble over a very odd error message. This only happens, when I'm connected to someone but I can't get into the games lobby. I normally get the "Cannot connect to NAT..." Perhaps this means something and will help fixing the NAT problems. Here a screenshot with a messages containing ... eh nothing! Frogboy - do you really think that proxy servers are the solution? The problem is then just different but still it won't work out good. Think about it. The proxy servers might be overloaded with traffic they have to route through. If players have only high pings ingame, the game isn't really playable. It will be a slideshow and the problems aren't fixed, they are just a different one. gn8
I have windows xp installed and have the same problem so normally - no.
same thing with Zyxel Prestige 660series... if you have your router firewall enabled try to open the ports there too.
I can't connect to any online mp (custom) game while in my router is set to "Routing mode". ONLY changing the settings to modem, it was possible to connect. I was able to with some BETA versions, but lately it really got worse - i can't connect to anyone. I don't get into the lobby. Modem-mode ist not an option for me, as I am not the only one using internet. I really don't understand why i could connect in Beta but now with the newest updates it's totally screwed. If I can help to
interesting is: before the update i wasn't having such hard "lag spikes" i was able to play a 3v3. With the new patch it got worse- It looks like it needs more upload speed than before. Any offical comments on this? I have also only a 2k DSL line...
that's one of the biggest downsides of p2p mp gaming. It all relies on the peoples connection... I only have ~200kbps that's not even enough for a 3v3 game. I'm not in the position to get a better connection soon. if people with more bandwidth could release somehow the upload burden for those with a bad upload connection.... ....
First of all, I really appreciate your help. I forward the ports in the so called "SUA"-Mode. Then I've found a interesting article: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Routers+SIP+ALG Zyxel Models: 660 family comes with SIP ALG enabed by default. NAT type: symmetrical Issues: No incoming calls. SIP protocol broken making 50% of outgoing calls imposs
my router doesn't even have a "SPI Function" to begin with :( I've disabled the router Firewall, but that isn't an SPI Firewall - i guess. On the other hand I cannot change what the router opens, to my system. I can only change which ports the router forwards directly. So if I open Port 6000 the router should open port 6000 TCP and UDP. I'm using a Zyxel Prestige 660HW-67 Firmware V3.40(QD.8). Also, why did it work before? edit
i really wonder why it's working for some people and then again not for others. ... It's really quite frustrating, as I was able to play with the Beta version...
I cannot connect to anyone since the new update. see also http://forums.impulsedriven.com/347837/get;2207157 I was able to play before Thursday, I could connect and get into the lobby and play but with the new update... I cannot. It wasn't 100%, I still had my connection problems now and then, but now I can't play online at all. Your update made things worse, at least for me... :(
since the new update i've got the same error as spooky has, again.... :( . I tried your ping -t google.com and I have no packet loss at all. (0%). It was nearly working for me, but after thursday it hit ground zero. I can now only see "waiting for connection", I can see people who are connected and then I get the error: Cannot connect to NAT faciliator. Ports are forwarded, I tested that with the PFPortChecker from portforward.com. here is my impulseractor.log :
the new beta update did fix most my connectivity problems. sometimes i get the "NAT failed" but usually I can now get into the lobby. The game also has problems when multiple users try to connect. Either it takes a loooong time or one or two get the error above. I hope you can get the mp game running
thanks for the new update, I was finally able to play online today.
hey daKillJoy, I was in that fierce battle and well I have to disagree with you because in my opinion, the reason you lost was simple: you just didn't push for the citadel. We did that with everything we had and well we won because of that. Sedna really saved our (ingame) lives then ;) gg
I'm looking forward to the update and hope that it'll fix most of the connectivity problems
that isn't working for me. Changing that only gives me disconnects. Some ISP use PPPoE and others PPPoA, at least that's what I read. You cannot really choose that...
direct connect is working for me, but that won't let me into the lobby or into a mp game. The games connects to one or two people. After that it is "waiting for connection", and fails, giving me the same error you all have. ... heres the log:
[05-05-2009 23:32:12 156] sendRequest: CVPGetApplicationInfoResponse 902.86ms [05-05-2009 23:32:12 156] CVP: ResetTimeToRefreshLogin [05-05-2009 23:32:13 562] sendRequest: CVPLoginResponse 1.40s
okay, what i've figured out after one hour testing and trying to get ONE mp game. Basically, i still don't get into a lobby, a mp game- Not in Skirmish, or Custom Games. I get connected sometimes (i guess that's the direct connect) but if i have to connect through NAT (that's just a guess) it fails. It also fails if others try to connect me through that NAT... Is there some kind of "log" ? perhaps that might help you figure this one out...
i've forwarded the ports, diactivated firewall (don't know if it is SLI cause there isn't a name like that in the configurator). Trying to connect. I get the "awaiting connection" and then some people i try to connect to but then it kind of fails and I still get the error about the NAT faciliator. How can that be? I though i can direct connect now. Or is the problem not me but the person on the other side of the connection?
I tried the Beta Version and it seems like the update didn't fix the connectivity problems I'm still getting the error about the NAT facilitator... Edit: The same happens when trying to host a game. Sometimes not instant, but after another players tries to connect to me it usually happens. I've opened my ports - so that isn't the the reason...
