Yep, I also noticed that the mines rarely work. I filled a couple of grav. wells with mines to try them out and the only thing that set one off was a lone scout frigate. Unfortunately, the ship was well past the mine before it decided to explode, lol. I'm watching the ship run straight over a ton of mines and suddenly one explodes on the other side of the planet from the ship. It looks like it just needs a bit more range and a more immediate boom. Woohoo! Just installed it. Good thing I have the next 2 days off. [e digicons][/e]
I'm running it on an AMD 5600+ (crossing fingers for that Phenom 9950 BE for xmas, lol), 4gb of ram, and a barely overclocked 8800GT on the highest settings. Oh, and with the 180.48 drivers. I just run it either directly from Impulse or the desktop icon that it created on installation. I've never had to do anything special to get anything to work, but all systems are different, so who knows. Sorry for the double post up there, btw.
Yeah, some of the sounds can be repetitive. Although 90% of the time, I'm zoomed out to where everything is just icons, so aside from the voices, I wouldn't notice if they changed it, lol.
Here's another big hurrah for Vista 64. Been using it since shortly after release and, aside from some drivers not being updated (hardware company's fault, not MS), I've been running smooth. It's way better than XP in my opinion, especially for gaming for whatever reason. My wife's 32-bit Vista machine has had a few hiccups with some software, though not with any games that I remember. Get Vista 64-bit and you should be happy.
I agree. I run Vista 64-bit and have never had a problem, even going for 5-6 hours at a time. Looking at your specs., I don't see any reason why you would have any problem running it.
