Do you need to buy multiple copies of the game for local multiplayer?

It's not unprecedented for local multiplayer to be possible (and encouraged) with one copy. See Blizzard for the more well-known examples. If this game is Steam only though, then local multiplayer will almost-certainly require multiple copies. Otherwise, we'll see.
