The only reasonable explanation I have for that is that your PC is having trouble getting data from A to B. Might be the first signs of a dieing hard drive. Could also be something HD intensive working in the background, like a virus scan. I noticed that the game takes forever to load if I'm running a virus scan and playing music in the background (far more time than I'd expect as I often play music and have the daily scan running while playing other games).

Works fine for me. You don't need to do anything to link them, the ships should just go directly to the edge of the gravity well and jump straight to the appropriate stabiliser. I've even had them use a stabiliser then a wormhole to get to other star systems.

The AI seems to be really terrible at attacking TBH. I've time and time again seen the AI flee from my capital ships. They can outnumber me 2 to 1 but they won't ever stand and fight if I have a capital ship in the system. It's getting silly in my current game, as the second to last AI player had a much bigger fleet than me, but he just runs away every time he meets one of my fleets, meaning that he slowly but surely bleeds capitals and cruisers to the point where he barely h
